I've only just noticed that since changing my disks to IDE mode I've lost my DVD drive in Windows (it's seen in the BIOS). I suppose that's what I get for thinking there'd be an easy fix. I guess I'll have to change back to AHCI unless anyone's got any other ideas?

I'm just about to install Vista a my SATA hard disk. I'm using a DS4 mobo. Should I set the ports to ACHI mode in the BIOS as I have 2 disks but do not want them in RAID? Also, do I need to install the Intel ICH8R SATA/RAID drivers even though I'm not using RAID? Can this be done from USB...

Might look into flashing the drive although I know that the DVD codec included with Windows Vista doesn't work with a flashed drive.
