Next time try Bilt Hamber Korrosol. I've found it to perform equally well as Iron-X, but it's also better value and smells much nicer :)

Did you try checking that box, clicking 'Apply' and then un-checking it and clicking 'Apply' again? The reason I ask is that I used to experience this exact issue but that always fixed it for me.
Same thing here NvidiaDan. I've heard the same whine on two 850w G2's and a 750w G2 when in standby. It's not particularly loud mind, but it is audible.

Soak a couple of microfiber cloths in warm water and lay them on top of the bird poo for about 10-15mins. That should soften them up enough and allow for them to be removed quite easily.
