Let's play spot the bottle neck!

Thanks for your help! I'll wait a few days for the RMA to come back as Fallout 4 is so random with its performance, I just had an hour or so of smooth sailing but I guess some locations have too much detail!

Let's play spot the bottle neck!

There's isn't a warranty card in the box but I've registered it on the MSI website and have logged the fault with them, let's see what happens! Hopefully it gets replaced so I can eBay it, I'll continue with getting a new card. I am a big Nvidia fan but that AMD 390 has a great spec, what's...

Let's play spot the bottle neck!

I bought it in Jan 2014 so it's almost 2 years old and MSI only has 1 year warranty :( Budget I can do the £280 for the 970 and I checked out the 980 but I just can't see the extra £100 being worth it for that one.

Let's play spot the bottle neck!

Thanks guys, I was worried it's about 3 years old and causing problems but as you say it's likely the 770 which is the easiest upgrade. I'll give that a go! Any suggestions on the 970? I was just going to stick to MSI and get the gaming edition: GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5

Let's play spot the bottle neck!

Hi guys, as most gamers I've just got Fallout 4 and not getting the best experience with very nasty framerates in some areas but 60+ in others. Below is my spec, I was originally going to upgrade from the Geforce 770 to a 970 but I'm wondering if there's any other clear bottleneck I should...

    USB3 MyBook sleep question

It's the same for me, so I keep it disconnected until I need to use it (I store photos on it), the power saving features are most likely built into the device and are not adjustable.

    windows 8 any good?

It's a shame about the Start button but now that I think about it, since Windows 7, whenever I need something I usually just press the Windows key on my keyboard and type what I'm looking for and press enter (same with Mac OS X, using Spotlight).

    SSD for Education?

IT at a business school here, we're using SSDs where ever we can and no issues yet. Each Dell PC we buy comes with a 128GB SSD and they work great, when we upgrade older PCs to SSDs we buy Crucial M4s.

Any significantly faster (real world) SSDs around the corner?

Well SATA3 6Gbps is max 768MB/s correct? Therefore anything faster than the standard 500MB/s read speed probably won't be that noticeable unless you can run it through PCI-E

Upgraded pc and now win 7 is in classic mode. Aero greyed out?

Yes please confirm a long run of Memtest86 as close to the 12 hours recommended previously as possible. I had the same problem once with Crucial memory, I came here for advice and was taught about Memtest86, I ran it over night and it listed over a million errors. I called up Crucial and as...

    methylated spirits

This does the job brilliantly for me: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-000-AC The TIM remover works well and then the surface purifier leaves the surfaces looking like new.

What's the correct driver installation order?

My personal preference is also chipset first but that's from older computing days when you couldn't use AGP ports etc until you install the chipset drivers. I also tend to ignore the requests to restart after each driver, and continue to install all I have with me, then restart. It's not...

Upgraded pc and now win 7 is in classic mode. Aero greyed out?

Definitely bad RAM, not only have you just add new RAM but these random problems you describe are typical of faulty memory. Let Memtest86 run overnight, you should have 0 errors but you will most likely get thousands, or in the worse case Memtest86 will stop running.

Re-run Malwarebytes, see if it picks anything else up, or if the 3 previous results reappear?

    Sky Anytime +

If the HD box isn't compatible is this simply because it hasn't got an Ethernet port? Mine has an Ethernet port but I can't remember who the manufacturer is.
