Hi. I have a P5E flashed with the rampage formula BIOS, it been running a Q6700 @ 3.4 for the last few years no problems.
Recently it was taking ages to boot then it loaded setup defaults. I replaced the CMOS battery but now when I try to set the multiplier and FSB / volts etc its not loading...
hmmm, the ones that are maked something like, reset. I thought I had made that clear?
Sorry my OP wasn't clear. This settup is exactly the same as my old rig but now in a Lian Li AO5 case. why the change in behavior?
I have rebuilt my P5B deluxe / E4300 @3.2Ghz for my office. My problem is this... when I press the reset button, my screen goes blank I get a bleep and my pc is dead! Until I do a hard CMOS reset.
The overclock is prime stable. And switches on and off no problems.
Why is the reset button...
I can't help but think of the advert where a citroen or peugot was made by villagers out of coke cans, but instead of a car it's a.... Lian Li TYR PC-X2000!
I have a chance to pick one of these up. I've always liked the case but I'm wondering if it still cuts the mustard...
or should I go for one of the new V1010 versions. Anyone still using an air cooled V1000+ got any tips.
Cheers G.
Is it possible to power up my P5E with a mouse click? I have a one yr old boy and it would be great if I could hide my power button which he loves pressing!!
I can't figure it out. I used to do it years ago with a PS2 mouse, I could be having a blonde moment tho....
Cheers
Watch out for the dreaded PCI x1 Link Width bug on the P5B. As you increase the NB volts my old P5B would drop the PCI to x1 instead of x16.
This was the reason I finally ditched the P5B. I guess not all boards are equal but keep an eye on the PCI link with CPUID as you increase the volts
There is a huge thread on this over at XS. The consensus is that the vDroop is eliminated by flashing to the Rampage or P5E Deluxe BIOS. I just followed the steps closely and 5mins later. I have the Rampage BIOS. You do have to turn off a couple of sensors in the Rampage BIOS as the PCB of the...
I would recommend the flash to the Rampage BIOS as it completely eliminates the vDroop. I tried the pencil mod first... It works but I didn't feel it was stable. I now have 1.47V set in the BIOS and at load CPUZ reads 1.45V 100% stable. Give it go. Its fully reversible so its worth a go.
Try quad core threaded Prime as I fairly sure orthos is only for dual's unless you run two copies of it simultaniously (spelling?).
If it passes prime with all four cores on blend for 8-12hrs... then WINN
It will work, but I cracked finally, it seemed to loose its stability over time. But I still managed 3.6Ghz with 4GB (4x1Gb) which is pretty good. Go for it if using 2 x1GB or 2 x 2GB give the 4 x 1 a miss!
I'm now using a P5E flashed to the Rampage BIOS and its much happier.
you can also use microsoft's sysprep tool its described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302577
As i understand it.... it is like driver cleaner but completely removes all drivers. It then repopulates the device manager and allows you to put the correct drivers...
I've used both on my Q6700, the true is miles better when heavily overclocked. The Scythe is just too massive and watch your fingers, its like a razor!
The TRUE is great once you figure out the stupid fan clips. Flea the Infinity - no question.
Hi there, I know i should be outside enjoying the sun but I've got a bad case of the OC bug!
My Q6700 hits 3.5ghz (10 x 350) no bother, P95 for 10hrs plus. On my old P5B-d. Stays cool with a TRUE at 1.45 in my BIOS. South Bridge at 1.55V.
...as soon as I hit 3.6ghz prime restarts the...
