I’m not up to date with Discovery but I thought the Breen were an inter-species coalition that wore the masks and armour to all appear homogeneous and provide suitable atmospheres? Maybe that was from a book rather than DS9…
I barely see any coverage of the Vision Pro these days, and it’s only two months since it launched. I wonder if the international release will help it snowball into a mega-hit or if it’s doomed to remain a niche product forever?
I’ve been through a few monitors in recent years and in the end I bit the bullet and went for an ASD. It’s the only one that has a really good quality chassis, sensible aspect ratio, built in cam, (not awful) speakers, and 5k res. It was very spendy but I know I’ll stick with it for a good...
Original plastic MacBook. I think I had to replace every major component of it at one time or another, and the keyboard deck just fell to pieces.
Edit. Oh yeah, and the fan used to make a mooing noise
Open and unencrypted steams would be amazing allowing anyone to build their own software/apps as well as hardware set top boxes. Never going to happen though.
Earnest and honest question though - what is the new technology that could trickle down? In terms of hardware I don’t think there’s much new here but maybe there is some clever spacial software going on?
There may be other things to consider - supporting the app, quality assurance etc. They could also be content licensing issues that they need to consider. Or it could just be spite!
Personally I don’t see it being a better experience than a decent TV. I’ve tried watching things on the Quest 2, and of course it has far lower quality displays, but my objection was more against the fundamental experience - watching a film with something uncomfortable strapped to my face.
I’m...
I think the PS3 and certain models of Xbox 360 output at 1080p. The games themselves often run at sub-720p resolution so I don't think they'd look much if any better on a native 720p display. Also, most of these cheap HD-Ready TVs run a non-720p like 1366x768 so you get some amount of bad...
I have a fondness for the first season of Discovery, I think because I was so hyped for a new Star Trek series. I managed to maintain positivity all the way through the second season but I cracked in the third and gave up on it in the fourth. The ever escalating stakes, most episodes ending with...
I've just finished The Curse and whilst I thought the majority of it was pretty good, if very uncomfortable, the ending was absolutely baffling. For an hour long episode, it didn't really have much to say, and the way it said it wasn't particularly interesting. I don't know what they were...
I've been lusting after a Switch Lite for a while but after popping into CEX and seeing one in the flesh (so to speak) I was hit with a sudden worry that the screen looked a bit on the small side for long sessions. I am still rather taken with the form-factor but I just can't decide if I'm going...
Same, especially the new OLED model.
I've got a bunch of my favourite PS2 games on there which are great for quick bursts of play, and being able to sleep/resume reliably is neat. I've also found that some of the native ports of N64 games work fantastically well sucha as Perfect Dark and...
