    8800GTS/Socket 939 compatibility Question

It's bizarre, the machine will post with it in and get to the loading win XP screen, then freeze. I put the X800XL back in, no problem. I have removed and cleaned the drivers, reinstalled windows and performed sacrifices over the machine to no effect. I know it is not power (Hiper Type M...

    8800GTS/Socket 939 compatibility Question

I have just got hold of a 8800GTS (Club 3D) to plonk in to my older system. It currently has a MSI Neo4F socket 939 board and the card does not appear to be compatible with it. Will it be compatible with the Asrock 939NF6G-VSTA Micro ATX board from here? There is also the Asus A8N32-SLi...

Decided on the Case, but what else?

I tnik he means that you would need a HDCP compiant card if you wanted to use HDDVD or a Blueray drive. If you don't (ie just using AVI. Mov, mkv etc) it shouldn't be an issue. One word of advice though if you get a Nvidia card you can use the Nvidia purevideo codec which is awsome for...

Decided on the Case, but what else?

I would definatly consider the dual core intels, they do seem to handle video better and they run quite cool which is important if you're not a fan of fan noise. You shouldn't need anything more beefy than a 7600 as a graphics card, it will do 1080p with ease and you could probably get away...

Decided on the Case, but what else?

On mine I went with the ASrock micro ATX board (945G) as it was the only one I could find at the time, nice board but not enough usb headers on the board to accomodate everything on the front of the Fusion case (who uses firewire anyway)? It's a conroe system which works great for media...

Problems with a Samsung LE32N73BDX and HTPC

Hi, I've just purchased a Samsung LE32N73BDX with the intention of using it with my HTPC. It connects with a standard VGA cable rather than component leads from a geforce 7600 gs. The problem is the tv will not detect the PC connection, the Samsung shows the PC connection as greyed out...

    Whiskey

Just as a little leftfield Highland malt, you could do a lot worse than Stronachie, I found this one recently at a local resturant and its become a firm favorite. It's quite fruity and richer than a lot of Highland malts and is quite excellent.

[Spec Check] Sub £500 general use rig.

Cool, The Antec case looks like it will do nicely. As for the GPU, it's not really going to be a gaming box, I'm just looking for a cheap way to fill the PCIe slot and to add a little punch, nice spot on the shared memory though. That I do not like. What about the EVGA GeForce 7300 GS...

[Spec Check] Sub £500 general use rig.

I always promised myself I wouldn't do this but hey ho! Anyway I am building a cheap rig for a mate for general home office/internet use, not really a gaming machine. I have tried to make it future proof(ish), and have had to include Monitor and keyboard, I already have a mouse for it...
