    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Not sure who's cage to rattle next. What are my options?..... Suburb of Leeds so not out in the sticks! Current FTTC connection maxes out at 32Mbps due to distance from cabinet. Openreach have now finished their install in my area and have done every street except the section where I am...

    New Headphone DAC/AMP

Not sure about your expectations but the Zen Dac is a very good piece of kit. I'm running a V2 (and a Zen Can) into 660s and there are no complaints here. The Zen Dac only offers a USB input so provided that meets your needs, I would give it a go. I haven't tried a Mojo so it may by a bigger...

    Breakdown cover cost increase

Which bank is this? That's pretty good value for the travel insurance incl. sports.

Which magazine review or advice on cordless mowers please

Definitely get a robot. One of my best purchases. It's saved me so much time over the last couple of years so I can actually enjoy the garden rather than spend time cutting it on the rare occasion the sun shines. The grass looks so much better too. We have a dog - you just have to get into a...

    Pillow talk.

A Relyon (previously Dunlopillo) Super Comfort Latex pillow. Pick one - there's a version for side sleepers or one for back sleepers. Mine cost about £65 from memory and I wouldn't use anything else. Heavy and doesn't go flat.

    Leeds bradford

Does the hotel offer a room/parking package? Nothing is really within easy walking distance so I'd probably just use the long stay and get the bus. It's only a small airport so expect complete chaos when you arrive. I'm sure I could rent you my driveway for less than a week parking at LBA -...

    Massive Car insurance costs?

Similar experience for me. Paid £550 last year with Admiral on my C43. This year, they wanted £950. Quick phonecall and they miraculously found £200 'one off discounts'. Needless to say, I don't like being taken for an idiot so I've gone elsewhere and paid less than I did last year. We had...

    *** VPN Thread ***

That worked, thanks. Pro subscription for £26.49 a year will do nicely.

    *** VPN Thread ***

Windscribe current have a 'back to school' offer of $39 for the year. Is this as good as it gets now or should I wait for them to send me some offers?

Great photos. Would love to go one year but it's also a bit of a trek for me.

backpack or pannier - commute dillema

Panniers put less strain on your back. Roll your shirts. Fold them like they do in shops first, then roll them. Same goes for trousers. Any creases drop out in the first few minutes.

    Energy Suppliers

Looks like I might need to move provider for the same reason. My Gen1 hasn't worked for 18 months and E.on keep telling me they will fix it when they're "next in the area". They obviously don't come to Yorkshire very often!

Capped 70Mbps FTTP to ~35Mbps FTTC... Will it suck?

We're on 35Mbps FTTC. It's fine for general streaming, working from home etc. Even during Covid times when two of us were on Teams calls at the same time. Streaming is fine in 4K or 2 x 1080p streams. Any more than that and it starts to struggle a little. Large game downloads just have to...

Pistonheads - The Motorist Sunday Service 07/05

How have I not heard of this place? It looks awesome and is fairly local to me. I don't think I'll be able to make Sunday but it's firmly a location on my radar now.

Parking Charge Notice - what would you do?

If you're planning to appeal, seek the correct advice either from the forums dedicated to this sort of thing or from one of the Facebook groups = "Private Parking Tickets - help and advice" helped me challenge one but it took 18 months and a lot of my time to do it. It went to the last stage...

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

We've had 5 or 6 different Virgin engineer visits and they've all told us the same thing. I've no idea why it was done that way other than it meant the original installer could run a straight line duct rather than trying to go around a corner to miss the neighbour's property (we don't have...

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Our ongoing joke that is VM installation continues... First applied for a line in December 2021 with an install date of 11th February 2022. The layout of our street is block paving with BT ducts running underneath, which Virgin are allowed to use. The very first visit in January 2022...

New bathroom, where to start ?

We're having ours done right now. Similar size, similar items to be installed plus the toilet and bath are being moved so the waste and plumbing have to be reconfigured. Local bathroom place charging about £8.5k. We had a similar quote from another local. That's everything done for us...

Cheapest way to get to Europe?

Good shout. I'll take a look, thanks. Edit: Nope. Twice the price of Hull to Rotterdam for the dates I'm looking at.
