I created Win11 USB media with Rufus and installed. This has configuration options to help on older platforms. I don't have the system anymore as moved to a more modern platform with more RAM (Dell 3630 with Truenas Scale).
Motherboard choice aside, try the onboard GPU first to see how you get on as it may be fine for your use case.
The iGPU isn't the strongest but will give you acceleration in some of the filters and such in Photoshop for example (if that is what you will be using). A dedicated card will be...
There is a seller on that auction site who 3D prints SSD bay kits for the Gen8. The drive holder is mounted near the PSU and can hold 2 x 2.5 inch drives. You would still need some sort of extra SATA card for more ports and power but the option is there.
I have recently obtained a Gen 8 and it had a 2 core Celeron CPU. This was upgraded to a Xeon E3-1265L V2. It already had 16GB RAM so all good.
Mine is running Win 11 (yeah I know, I could use a whole bunch of different free OS systems) but I run Blue Iris which is Windows only and is a Plex...
I sold my Shield due to it stuttering in Dolby Vision content across all streaming apps. Instead, I use the Sony TV (65 inch XH9505) apps and Plex - its flawless for me. I don't transcode though, and TV is using a wireless connection. The largest file I can play before is complains is...
I undervolted my 3060ti - incredible reductions in power consumption of 25 to 60 watts (it varies) but at a constant 1920mhz on the core and low 60's temp @0.875v. I've not tried tweaking this yet - may try going lower.
Thanks. The backup the NAS would do is a backup of a PC drive on a home GB LAN. My wife uses Photoshop and has an NVME drive for editing and those folders are backed up to the internal backup drive which is then synched to another PC with an identical drive in it. So is Current Work>Internal...
I'm looking for a 2 bay NAS that has gigabit ethernet or 2.5GBe for high-speed transfers from a Win10 PC. The PC has 2.5GBe capability.
I do not need transcoding tools or apps and such. Just need a fast NAS that can use one large drive for backing up files and another drive to share large files...
How long does the inflated standing charge stay at the level it is at? If it was raised to pay for (in part) the failed suppliers surely this would need to drop at some point?
I use Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels on my S3 and Q5. Spray on dry wheels, leave for a few minutes, agitate with a soft brush if wheels are really dirty, jet wash off. Apply your choice of wheel protectant.

Stuff stinks but does a great job.
My Sony TV was using silly amounts of energy when it was off. This was due to it checking for updates in the EPG.
I also enabled Eco mode on my Denon AVR. When on uses half the energy with no difference in sound quality in my use cases.
Mate 20 Pro, over 3 years old. Looking to upgrade to a Samsung S22 Ultra later this year for the camera. Main camera is still outstanding, but the zoom is not so good. Battery in mine is still excellent and condition pristine.
Compared to just stereo in gaming do your settings make a significant difference for spatial audio? I have the G6 and a pair of AKG 712 Pro's so will experiment but don't have Dolby Access on the PC (do on Xbox)
I went from a 3600XT to a 5700X.
X3D was not available and a little pricey and the 5800x had a tiny performance improvement over the 5700x but consumes more power and runs hotter. I'm set for a few years on my 570 platform.
On Disney+ the IMAX part is just the expanded video so more on screen (here). I find the the quality on the bigger movies is great on my system with D+. Its also half the price of Netflix which although good is pretty grainy. For £15.99 Netflix need to increase the quality imo.
The interesting...
