How does it make a difference going second hand? Are there cards available second hand that are better for my setup that are not available new.
Also I'm interested to understand more about what you are saying about the spare GPU usage of the 7850 - can you explain more ?
Thanks a lot for...
Assume unlimited budget - I'm interested to know how powerful a graphics card this system could handle without changing the PSU, processor, mobo
I.e. at what point does it become pointless going higher before CPU becomes limiting factor or PSU can't handle it etc.
Thanks
Paul.
I have the following .....
1 x Intel Pentium G620 2.60GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
1 x MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £34.99
OCZ 500W PSU
..... What its the maximum performance graphics card I should consider?
Thanks
Paul.
i just bought:
1 x MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £34.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G) £23.99
and notice that the motherboard spec is saying it supports DDR3 1066/1333 (not 1600)

Hi,
I have bought an XTX Radeon 6770 as an upgrade for my current pc.
I installed it but there is no signal going to the monitor (previous post on this in graphics card forum suggests that the motherboard may be too old to run it).
I'm looking for a minimum (cheapest!) upgrade of...
hi,
was wondering if this was still my best option (just getting around to buying this now!) .....
YOUR BASKET

wow - thanks a lot for the quick reply stulid!
is the celeron better overall than my current e2200 - or will i be sacrificing anything (because it's a celeron).
edit: also - will my current cpu cooler still be ok?
cheers,
paul.

the psu meets this requirement - its a ocz 500w with a 6-pin pci-e connector.
also - i checked the bios and it's up to date. the "intel inf" driver for the motherboard was not up to date however - should that make a difference?
i'll try the card in another newer model computer. if it works...
Yep I was looking forward to the upgrade as it should make a big improvement.
I tried the other display output on the card and a 4 colour "self check" thing comes up and moves about the screen.
I'll be annoyed if its the card as its ready a replacement one for a previous faulty one I got...
Hi,
I have bought an XTX Radeon 6770 as an upgrade for my current pc.
I installed it but there is no signal going to the monitor.
When i put my old card back in (radeon 4670) everything works fine.
Has anyone got any ideas of what could be wrong?
i have plugged in the 6 pin power connector...
yes i did an uninstall of the drivers first then installed the new 5770 and installed the drivers that came on the cd with the new card.
i also tried re-seating the card in the pci-e slot.
i've ordered another psu (ocz 500w) to see if that makes a difference.
paul.
Thanks. I'm putting this together on a tight budget so looking to spend bare minimum on a psu that will safely run this build. Not looking to future proof against upgrades etc - just want to avoid buying a too cheap non brand one that may give me issues.
Paul.
thanks for the fast reply :)
yes the 5770 is just 1x6 pin to power it.
when i installed the 5770 it looked ok but then the screen started showing marks in a "grid like" form. then the system would hang.
not sure if something else has gone wrong with the install.
to rule out anything...
I am putting together a new system, namely:
- cpu: intel 2500k
- mobo: Gigabyte z68ap-d3 intel z68 (socket 1155) ddr3 [ga-z68ap-d3]
- graphics: nvidia gtx560
- memory: 8gb ram
what PSU would recommend for this build?
thanks,
paul.
