When I 1st started photography, I didn't really like the idea that people manipulated their images heavily in photoshop.
To me, that doesn't say they're a great photographer, it means they're a great graphics artist. It used to bug me in competitions, as its didn't show great photography...
Still mostly just learning and experimenting. My resolution for 2010, is to do more full sets, and expand on what I've learned. And defo some new glass. :)
Not a patch on whats been posted, but these are probably my best from 2009. Only had my 1000D for just over 1 year now.
Heres a picture of it.. I had it suspended from the button on the end. The insides metal and reflects the light differently depending on the angle it hangs.
Heres a link to 1920 landscape version of the 1st one.

I really quite like the effect I managed. They're both the same light, just one is a lot longer exposure. The EXIF's are in those pics.
I love the fact that the ligh intensity is different around the image, giving graduations along the lines, and a bit of depth. I think this was due to the...
I've got a Hama Star 63, which I bought quite a while ago, and its solid as a rock.
The heads a bit cheap and creaky when moving it, but does the job :)
I think with HDR you have to retain some sense of light contrast, otherwise the result looks too flat. And this makes it look fake. Your brain is expecting certain areas to be darker, and other areas to be lighter. Too much HDR and you lose all that.
HDR should be used to bring back...
I noticed the same thing last night tbh. The exported jpg when viewed in IE looked a lot darker than the image in lightroom. My camera is defo set to sRGB, I'll check lightroom is too. Looked like something todo with export settings tho.
I think Live View is ace. I use it to focus when doing IR shots. The Live View pumps up the brightness of the scene through the filter, so I can make out high contrast edges. Zoom in to 10x, and use manual focusing to get it just right. Takes all the effort out of focusing for IR.
I'm in a similar situation myself.
Really want a fast prime for indoor shots, but my mate has the nifty 50mm and finds it hard to get everyone in, due to the 1.6x crop.
Contemplating the 35mm, as this will give an actual 50mm with the crop. a lot more money than a nifty-fifty though.. hmmm.
If the routers at 192.168.1.1 and the other thing is 192.168.0.1 and you have a netmask of 255.255.255.0 then they wont see each other.
Get the first 3 numbers the same on everything. I recomend 192.168.0
I use that on every lan I setup.
You dont understand the difference between TV film and rendered images. TV film has an inherent motion blur that softens the frames. This is why 24fps film appears smooth. 24fps in games does not appear smooth.
You can easily see all the way past 100 frames a second.. but depending on the...
