    Win 7 machine - £450

I'm hoping to build a home office machine that will run windows 7 and remain as future proof as possible. The budget for the machine is £400-450. This would include: Case: Power Supply: Motherboard: CPU: RAM: HDD: Optical Drive: OS...

PC Setup - £1,400 or thereabouts

So maybe go for this instead -Corsair SSD? :) I only picked out the SAS for the high speeds, but I guess SSD makes more sense for a desktop machine. I was initially looking at the Corsair PSUs as well. Will I have enough power at 620w?

PC Setup - £1,400 or thereabouts

Ok. Major rethink and extra budget added. Here is the new spec. Again I'm open to crits on where better components could be put in. I'm wanting the sas drive for all my system files, with the 500gb sata for data. I've got a feeling I'll need a controller card/cable for the sas drive though -...

I'm planning on alsogetting a Sata II HDD also I reckon. I've also changed my PSU to the Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W Modular SLi.

PC Setup - £1,400 or thereabouts

Hi guys. Thanks for the input so far. I've changed a couple of things around and got this for now: I'm thinking of getting the Roccat mouse with a Razer Lycosa 'Mirror Special Edition' keyboard eventually also. Still on the prowl for some glossy black 2.1 speakers though.

Hey guys, I'm just going through some new bits for a new setup. Would be great if I could have some feedback on any bits to swap out or add before I go ahead with it. Samsung 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - £264.99 Zotac GeForce GTX 275 AMP! Edition 896MB GDDR3 - £252.99 Intel Core 2 Quad...

    New build problem.

You tried with just the one gfx card in? May be worth reseating everything inc processor.

Yeah, 24 pin and 4 pin both in there. It's strange indeed :(

Yeah, my card is 8600 GT (palit). Other card 8800gts (leadtek). Mine is pwoered straight from mobo, other straight from PCI-E power cable. So to me seems like my mobo can't give my card power. :(

Even though a card from someone elses PC works in mine? If it's defo mobo I'll RMA it. Stupid Asus :P Shoulda got the gigabyte 965p

Ok, so, problem solved I think. gfx is fine, new PSU is fine. My graphics card works in another machine. Other graphics cards work fine on my machine. However, put my graphics card in my machine and it doesn't like it one bit. The card I tried in mine was an 8800GTS, powered by the PCI-E...

Cleared the CMOS, still get 1 long, 3 short, regardless of gfx in or out. Hdd in or out. And even with 1 stick of ram.

The old card was just old and naff, didn't blow or anything though. I'm trying to see now how to manually reset my CMOS on my mobo. There is a jumper for it somewhere I'm sure :$

Tried in both slots and same error. Also the 8600 GT is a bit of a budget card, and doesn't require power from the PCI-E cable from my PSU. I'm assuming it gets its only power from the motherboard. So it's not a driver error, hrmph. I can't seem to post at all now mind, with the card not in -...

Yeah I just get a black screen, I can't boot in safe mode becuase there is no onboard graphics, or if there is, there is nowhere to plug my monitor in on my Asus P5NE

I've also just noticed it's a GDDR3 gfx card, is that going to be a problem? >_>

As far as I know, this means a video adapter error, which makes sense. I've just bought a 8600GT for a machine, the other card was dead and has been chucked. Foolishly, I never uninstalled the previous drivers and I think that could be what is preventing my new machine from booting? The machine...

    Vista 64 Drivers for 8800

Leadtek 8800GTS, 256mb I believe. Was purchased when the first 8800's came out. I'll give those drivers a shot and run some benchmarks, see which I get best performance from. 30FPS on World of Warcraft with an 8800GTS, Core2Duo and 4gig of ram doesn't sound right to me.
