I'm having the same problem, damn ebay ram. set the bios to manual and put up the freq setting to 400mhz, good luck if its remains stable, but the bios should set it automatically if it was stable. Leave a few more specs on the pc

I'm having the same trouble, yours may be repairable. in the bios go to dram config and put the configuration to manual, and try putting the timing to 400mhz like it should be. ignore that, probably not a hdd problem. Make sure you have all the latest drivers ie graphics card and chipset and the latest BIOS most importantly. Include specs of the sys too.

sure, get a tool called file scavenger. Works very well. Run a quick format first on the disk, that rewrite the file structure of the disk and fixes the mbr and such. Then run file scavenger from another operating sys. its er avail to buy which i recommend or on some torrent sites

the system is up, and i would like to confirm that for the above sys you do not need drives during a clean windows install, just a working drive without bad pcb or what ever, maybe even a lose connection, however the drive is still tempermental. Summary don't by MAXTOR
