Work being exhibited in the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle

Good work, the BF is a cool gallery. I live pretty much on the same street as it, it's on my way to uni so I'll check 'em out this week. Might I ask how you went about getting your stuff in there?

    Lens for gig photography

I've been taking a lot of gig photos recently for various papers/magazines in Newcastle and, while my 50 1.8 has been alright up to now, I've been thinking of replacing it with something a little wider. And since I just dropped my 50 tonight on a nice unforgiving stretch of concrete, I think...

    Broken 10D

@JBuk: Yeah I think something's clearly borked and the camera is thinking things are much darker than they are. @Jotun/H@ammer: It does the same thing regardless of the exposure compensation, even that image above was at -2EV. At 0EV it's even worse. Resetting all the settings did nothing either.

    Broken 10D

I recently (foolishly) took my 10D out when I was far too drunk to have done so and ended up dropping it a little bit. Fortunately had a UV filter on my 10-20 which took most of the damage but it seems that the metering is totally off now. I usually shoot in AV but the camera is completely...

Northern Art Prize @ Leeds art gallery

Cheers for the heads up, went to check this out today. There are some pretty nice shots in there (couldn't work out what the blue picture with the pyramid shaped things was at all!) The photographer was in the gallery this evening doing a discussion with the curator of MIMA which was pretty...

    Photochop, virtual Machines, and Linux

I use CS2 in virtualbox right now and it works just fine, sometimes a little slow but that's down to running VB itself, rather than a fault of PS. I used to run PS7 in WINE (as it negates the need to boot into a virtual env) which also worked really well, except for a few occasions where it...

One hundred and twenty eight thousand pounds.

couple of Newcastle HDR Pano's (first time)

I find the bit of bridge on the right of the first one too distracting and the HDR in the first attempts is a little overdone and the saturation is a bit too in your face. The original of the second shot though I like a lot. Reminds me a lot of the print I have hanging on my wall. (Well, without...

    Broken 10-20 :(

I recently dropped my 10-20 and what with it being a pretty heavy lens, it made a sickening thud and is a bit broken. The mount is bent and so won't actually fit onto the camera anymore. Also, the zoom ring is a bit fuxed and doesn't turn which is highly annoying. I know it's a bit vague but...

Corrupt memory card - lost THM files

Yeah that's what I presumed too. Anyway, I managed to repair them all using CRW Repair which is a pretty nifty bit of kit for situations such as this :)

Corrupt memory card - lost THM files

I've used a couple of recovery programs and they all seem to recover the same files so I don't think that's the problem. The JPGs that are recovered are absolutely fine which is what led me to believe that it's the missing THM files that's stopping the CRW files from being read correctly by a...

Corrupt memory card - lost THM files

After coming back from London this week, I've found that one of my memory cards is corrupt. I've managed to recover the CRW files, but not the THM ones. I thought this would be alright but no raw viewer will open the recovered CRW files (tried with RawShooter, BreezeBrowser, LightZone, etc). All...

    Obscure sized frames

I'm after a frame for a print I recently got but it's a bit of an odd size at 7.5x39" (~19x~99cm). I went to a local (independent) framers to enquire about a price and was quoted £49 which is a bit pricey considering the print was less than half that (although it'd undoubtedly be a nice frame)...

New Zealand. Some of the best from Mount Cook.

Again a very nice set. First one is ace, the sky gives it a lot of definition. It ****** it down when I was there :(
