In the many years I've been a member your specs have never failed me so I'm back again.
As the title suggests I'm looking to purchase a new PC (old spec in sig) and gifting or selling my old one.
I don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse or speakers and will be reusing the m.2 ssd but still need...
Think im gonna install the CPU and do a little gaming and see how it fairs, at what temp under idle/load should i start to get concerned - i dont actually know what they are specced to run at these days.
Many thanks for everyones help.
According to Aercool the TDP of my cooler claims to be 125 but from reviews im lead to believe this is not the case - i purchased as it matched the rest of my setup and my 8400 didnt need anything performance wise but i've read reports of it being worse that the stock intel on some higher TDP...
So i may be fortunate enough to get my hands on a 9900K (hopefully) which i intend on sticking in my PC to replace my 8400, my motherboard doesnt support overclocking so the CPU will be running at stock but im told even at stock they run toasty so wanted some advice on a cooler as performance...
Considering the janky mobo and it's weird bios, I think i'd like to at the very least replace that and while I have the money surely it makes sense to move either to Zen2 or 10th gen to allow an upgrade later down the line in 12 months or so.
Well MSI were no help at all, they basically said that the codex 3 bios is the only one I could use and ignored any reference to the fact the motherboard were the same model and would not confirm 9th gen support either way on the board.
Looks like it's definately new board time.
Would I see...
About best I can do with items in stock on a pre build. You'd just need to source a copy of Windows elsewhere. Some off the tech is dated (especially the CPU). For a pre build you're probably better looking elsewhere or giving the store a call.

They have a bios for it when you look up the pre-build but it hasn't been updated since about a month after release unlike the standard one which has had about 10 revisions.
It's Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM so do you think I should be ok?
The motherboard is a MSI H310M Pro M2 and came in a MSI Codex 3 pre-build (of which only the CPU/mobo remain) but as mentioned the bios is none standard and I have been unable to flash it with the standard stuff.

So I'm wanting to upgrade my pc and I realise that the CPU is definately my bottleneck at this point.
I don't know what my best course would be with that kind of budget. Do I go 9th gen Intel with like a 9600/9600k (worth noting that the...
This isn't a bad shout, though I'd spend some extra money on a decent power supply as the Corsair CV's are really poor quality and if you can wait then you could probably pick up the 3060ti early next year which would be cheaper and offer around the same if not slightly more performance if the...
With that budget your really going to struggle. Infact it'd be nearly impossible if you wanted all peripherals and monitor in that. A decent console may be a better choice.
If you can source the peripherals/monitor outside ur budget then this would be a good shout...

And if you don't mind sacrificing some resolution to say 1440p or high FPS 1080p then you could probably bring it in at around £800-1000. It'd still look and run great.
Can certainly get it closer to your budget. Went as white as possible lol
