    Multi-room home hi-fi

Decided to increase the budget and get some things that are flexible and should last: -Wiim Amp downstairs for music and eventually films as I needed something to drive some tall speakers and it's single box approach. -Wiim Mini upstairs for music (used). -later: another Mini for the kitchen if...

The last game you completed, and rating.

Gran Turismo 2 (RG35XX) - 10/10 Playing this with D-pad and buttons combined with tracks so low-poly the cars are constantly jumping all over the place made this a joy to complete again 24 years later. Also a interesting comparison between one of the first racers I played as a kid, and...

    Sub-£1k full-frame compacts

Those Fujis do seem popular, and I had the X100s after reading many glowing reviews. Although the images were nice I hated the handling, delay when shooting through the viewfinder, and ease of accidentally setting it to 1/4000s :p so I got rid it quite quickly!

    Sub-£1k full-frame compacts

Sounds like pushing the budget would be worthwhile in the long run. I'll take a look at what the lens options are for this system too.

    Sub-£1k full-frame compacts

Ah yeah I bet bad AF would be quite annoying when used coming from a DLSR. I figure it would be on a strap when used so dropping less of an issue, but fiddly controls could be.

    Multi-room home hi-fi

This sounds like the most flexible option, could move towards that after the initial set-up.

    Multi-room home hi-fi

Ah that's a good idea, both the Chromecast Audio or Wiim things could work I think. Cheers!

    Multi-room home hi-fi

Ah yes, I boycott Amazon for employer welfare reasons (: Regarding budget I'm not sure what this all costs, but I suppose up to £100/room - happy to go used too.

    Sub-£1k full-frame compacts

I've been using a Nikon D750 for years but hardly take it out these days due to the size and weight of it, but I do love it when I use it. So I'm wondering if anyone has experience of making the same journey from DSLR style handling and viewfinder to something like the Sony DSC-RX1 - how much of...

    Multi-room home hi-fi

Hi everyone, I'm soon to be moving house and wondered what a good system is for having pairs of speakers (yes, true stereo!) in 4 different rooms? I'd be playing music from my phone (latency is ok) or using the PC/TV with 0 latency. I'm assuming it would be best as a wifi based system for the...

    Mobile phone pics?

Is this similar to how iPhone photos tend to look great on the phone screen, but crap on a monitor?

Need For Speed Underground 2 RTX Remix

Snap, NFS:U2 was the last epic one so might check this out now I've upgraded the system a bit! I also wonder what these are like played with a wheel...

Flat 27" QHD VA with USB-C for gaming and work - does it exist?

Cool, thanks for pointing that one out!

Flat 27" QHD VA with USB-C for gaming and work - does it exist?

As the thread says really, does a flat screen, 27" QHD VA panel monitor with USB-C for gaming and work exist? Really struggling to find options for this. I'm not a massive gamer so I can compromise on response rate, and perhaps I'll have to drop the VA preference, but is there something I'm...

Spec check - photo processing machine

Yep, I'm currently on a 2008 build with a Core 2 E8400. Old, but not that old!

Spec check - photo processing machine

Thanks Shivy, I'm just being cheap and will carry over a couple of older large drives for now.

Spec check - photo processing machine

Hi all, I've read through a few 'spec me' threads and I've come up with what's below. I already have a GPU (MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC 2048MB GDDR5) which I might upgrade at a later date. The main thing I want aside from gaming is a fast machine for processing photos in Adobe Lightroom with...

    Stratford Road Project (100 Strangers)

Well I've reached 100 people, I'll do a few more posts on the blog analysing the loose data I've gathered. It's been good though, and I'm starting to promote it in various local blogs and so on. Next up we'll see if the newspapers or even local galleries like it. Best viewed from the blog...

Yeah that's kind of the point.

    Stratford Road Project (100 Strangers)

Here's a slightly different update to the usual: I've been taking environmental shots to try and give context to outsiders. These aren't 'street' photos and have generally been the most difficult part of the project but I think they have a certain consistency, something I've been looking to...
