    Spec me a dehumidifier please?

Mine has started doing exactly the same thing. It’s only about 6 months old - I can’t turn it off! Did you contact support?

AirPods (and AirPods Pro [and AirPods Pro 2nd generation]) now available

I had the same, there’s a separate setting in the AirPods menu. I can’t remember what it’s called exactly, but it’s separate to the adaptive and transparency settings and it changes the volume in response to ambient noise. I turned it off and no further issues. It’s too sensitive and was...

    Split Air con

At full power mine draws about 1.5kw (it’s an external unit rated at around 5.5kw of cooling). So it’ll run at that if the house is hot to cool down. Once at temp, it sits at around 7-800w on days like this. Then when the sun goes down it’ll reduce to 300-400w, even if the outside temp is...

    iPhone 14 or iPhone 15 ?

The 13 Pro is still a really good phone, it’s unlikely to be a huge leap even to the 15. Considered getting the battery replaced? The prices at Apple are quite reasonable.

    Massive Car insurance costs?

Tesla seems to be in a world of their own insurance wise. With the recent offers on their inventory cars I ran a few quotes and it’s more than double to insure than any other car I’ve run.

*** The official iPhone 13 (mini/pro/max) thread (The Pro Max has 120 Hz and everything!) ***

Has anyone got any thoughts on iPhone 13 Pro vs 14 (non-pro)? Apple are selling refurbished 13 pro for almost the same price give or take. I’m looking to upgrade and can’t decide. Comparable wide camera. 14 has a better front camera whilst the 13 has a better ultra wide and zoom. Better...

    BMW i3 charging woes

A Google provided this: https://ev-database.org/uk/car/1004/BMW-i3-60-Ah Many more forum discussions in the results also support it. I searched for “BMW i3 64Ah AC charging speed.” The 11kw 3 phase will be 16A (3*3.6kw). The 22kw is 32A (3*7.2kw). Excuse any rounding! If the car or cable...

    BMW i3 charging woes

There were three battery sizes, keep in mind the i3 first came out in 2013 I think! 60Ah, 94Ah and 120Ah. Even the 120Ah is considered small compared to battery capacities on more modern models, so the stats you’re seeing are for literally double the battery. The party trick of the older...

    BMW i3 charging woes

If this is the older 60Ah model then the mystery is solved - they only added 3 phase charging for 94Ah and later, so this model is 7kw max at 32A. It will only pull 3.6kw on a 11kw 3 phase as each phase is only 16A. On a 22kw you’ll get the full 7kw. CCS is completely separate charging circuitry.

    BMW i3 charging woes

A few things to check - cable? Or is it tethered? Some cables are 16A only (3.6kw). 11kw home charger would be very unusual. As others have said - is this 16A 3 phase? Also what age i3? Some of the earlier ones (pre 2016?) didn’t have 3 phase from memory (but could be wrong on this) this...

New company car time - help me choose

I looked at those (albeit privately) and went with the Corolla. I would make the same decision again - great economy and the petrol-diesel price difference has widened recently.

    Spec me a dehumidifier please?

My heat pump is 300%+ efficient using the same electricity! It depends how you use it. Anyway, due to drying more clothes indoors (to avoid the dryer) humidity has hit my list of concerns. It’s not something I’ve really considered previously. What % do you start to get concerned? And what do...

Moving to eSIM, is there any benefit?

I don’t get the hate, I find them really useful. When I went travelling earlier in the year I bought an eSim with plenty of data and had the QR code scanned and ready to go before I even left. It was much easier than having to pick up a physical SIM card… that SIM is now deactivated but still...

iPhone 11 in 2022 (decided on iPhone 13)

If it was me I would look at the Apple certified refurbished store - they come with a brand new shell and battery, as well as full warranty. Indistinguishable from a new phone other than the box it comes in.

    Recommendation for lighting cables

Same. My other half is a serial cable destroyer but somehow the Anker cables survive.

Subscribed! How did you select a builder? Seems a minefield when we’ve looked into it.

    OcUK Dadsnet thread

Yes, we have that with pretty much every accessory and progressed from the newborn pack upwards to forward facing. I think it was a fantastic choice - if there’s anything specific you want to know, shout… Easily fits in a car footwell and after 3 years of abuse has worn really well.

    Split Air con

Huge advantage with regard to planning permission. One external unit is likely to be permitted development, if any neighbours don’t like multiple external units they can report it… For some reason this continues to be largely ignored by installers.

Netfllix vs Other sources - washed out image

I’m not sure it helps if you’re using the TV app, but I had this when passing HDR content through an older sound bar via HDMI. Completely washed the picture out. Connecting directly to the TV sorted… Daft question, but is your internet connection fast enough to stream the full HDR quality?

2010 Toyota Yaris 1.33 vvti a good idea?

We have one which is facelift, but the same engine with 6 speed (is it 5 speed pre facelift?). I can’t help but think your budget should stretch to a newer version, but perhaps I’m out of touch. I’d definitely try and get the facelift If you can. I can only echo the other comments - completely...
