    Massive Car insurance costs?

Got my renewal from Admiral today. 30% increase on last year with no claims or policy changes. Had a chat with a minimal loyalty reduction offered so have declined their 'improved offer' and will be moving to Hastings who came in at £299 with business use which is actually slightly lower than...

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

Pleased I didn't jump on to the Pixel 8. My trusty 6 has been performing really well since the A14 update. I will have a look next year

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

Same with my P6. Much snappier on 14. Battery seems to be lasting longer as well with like to like use from yesterday. All good so far and feel no real need to upgrade to the P8.

Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

I have a P6 from launch as my phone and an iPhone 13 for business use. Both are still working as needed, so as with the recent iPhone 15, I'll most likely be sitting this one out. I'm keen to see the final pricing, but besides 'shiny new thing', these annual updates are all pretty...

Possibly getting back into biking - advanced riding courses?

I did both Bikesafe and IAM shortly after passing my test a few years ago - took value from both, and I think with the IAM, a lot depends on the observer you are paired with; I got lucky with mine and found it beneficial. I didn't stay as a member after passing as I am not into the whole...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

Yes, that is a fair point. Assuming interest rates were still available @ my current rate of 1.8%, then the actual (total) difference is £130 at the point of remortgage. However, we are where we are now with the choices available, and whilst I do expect future rate reductions, the days of ~1.5%...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

I did our remortgage this morning @ 4.4 with no fees on a 5-year fixed with HSBC and got until the end of May to change this if rates come down, but it seemed sensible to at least get something locked in. Luckily it is 'only' £70 extra a month, so we will be ok, but will keep an eye on the next...

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Installed mine today. Luckily got it before the recent £ increase. Changed from a 5600X mainly for MSFS. Should keep me going for awhile. Temps a bit higher as expected but seems good. Will give it a few days and move on the 5600X.

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

I've updated my P6 to 13 and still have the option to set the preferred network type on O2. Settings/Network & Internet/Sims/Preferred Network Type (3G, 4G & 5G)

I recently picked up one of the updated ones as a second bike alongside my T120. Really impressed so far - it is far better than the headline numbers suggest....

    Looking at kit.. Advice?

Options and opinions will vary. Helmet fit is more important than cost. My head will only fit well in Xlite and Nolan for example so try as many as you can. For textile kit I like Halvarssons, similar quality to Rukka but slightly more wallet friendly! For boots I have Daytona Road Star...

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

My Pixel 6 has been great since the Jan update. Same or better signal strength as an S10 business phone I have on the same O2 network, the camera is ace, software is snappy, and the battery lasts ages. No complaints.

o2 contract versus pay as you go

Have a look at uSwitch as well - I have been with O2 sim-only forever and always change contracts as needed through uSwitch at renewal time. It's generally a lot cheaper than going with O2 directly. I think I am currently paying £10 a month for unlimited calls, texts, and 25GB of data on a...
