    Looking for upgrade help

Or find a 5000 black edition. It has an unlocked multi and it's 65nm rather than the 6400 which is 90nm. Plus it's a fair whack cheaper. Edit, 5000 black edition is dual by the way, but you can probably get them for about £50.

    CPU fan header

Don't they have settings in the bios where the cpu has to be a certain temp before the fan kicks in? If you start it up from cold it might take a few mins for the temps to rise high enough for the fan to start. Total guess that, but possible.

    Big AMD losses

I know it's been said before, but seriously, how long can AMD carry on like this? It's not like they have the same financial muscle as Intel to see them through lean periods. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7353865.stm Apologies cos I know this kind of story has been posted before...

The Myth of the 1KW PSU..

I have an 3600x2, a 3870xt and all the usual malarky powered by a 380w antec. It seems to be fine at the moment but to be honest I'm still a bit nervous about it, but a bit too poor to buy a chunkier psu.

you can do it if: a) you're willing to take a punt on B-Grade b) you already have a copy of Windows c) you're willing to take a risk on the 380w psu being able to power the 3850 (which personally i think it should be able to do) OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum...

    New build issue

Hi, asking a question on behalf of someone else who's just put together a new computer which is apparently refusing to boot. Is anyone able to suggest anything, as I've run out of ideas. He has the P31 based gigabyte motherboard, an e2160 and the OcUK 3870xt, all (meant to be) powered by a...

THINKING OF BUYING A 3870 XT READ THIS

Just ordered this one actually, any chance of someone who has one posting any pics? Also, aside from it being clocked slightly slower (775 instead of 800 I think) will it perform the same as the Powercolor version, excepting cooling?

    Athlon X2 3600+

Depends on what graphics card you presently use and what resolutions you're planning to game at as to what differences you're going to see. If you do go ahead, there's only around £10 or so difference between the 256 and 512 versions of the 3850 which is probably worth paying. Also check...

    Athlon X2 3600+

The trouble with that cpu is that it has half the cache of a 3800x2 for example (2x256kb as opposed to 2x512kb). For that kind of price you really might want to look at going 2nd hand. you haven't got enough posts yet, but in the members market for example there's an opteron 165 for £40...
