    Dirty number plates

Possibly ;) Anyway, to re-iterate my point, I'm not talking about the drivers covering hundreds of miles in winter everyday - they have an excuse since the whole car ends up covered in muck. I'm talking about the ones who deliberately avoid cleaning their license plates while the rest of the...

    Dirty number plates

It particularly does my head in how obviously localized the dirt is - spotless lights and bonnet, but filthy plates. I've got a good mind to attack these cars when I see them with a bucket and sponge. :p

    Dirty number plates

This has been bugging me for a while now - I've noticed quite a few cars around recently (primarily BMWs and Audis, unsurprisingly) which are otherwise clean except for the number plates which are often caked in a thick layer of dirt and dust. Could anyone shed any light on why this is the...

Sandy Brdige Chipset Info + Sandy Bridge-E

I don't understand the purpose of the Z68 - what sort of user would need both IGP and multi-GPU support on the same board?

Sandy Bridge - Remote Kill Switch

For the love of god...let me explain, once more: 1) The technology is in the *chipset*, not the CPU. 2) It's only in the B and Q series chipsets, so it doesn't apply to you. 3) Only the person who configures the BIOS in the first place (i.e. the owner) can actually remotely disable it.

Best bang for buck CPU for modern games

Not true anymore nowadays, a lot of modern games benefit from having at least 3 cores, preferably 4. Nothing yet takes advantage of more than 4 cores though.

Sandy Bridge or wait for Haswell?

FUD alert anyone? First of all, this feature is only going to be in the business-oriented B and Q-series chipsets, and will be managed through Intel's vPro Technology by the sysadmin. Secondly, you physically need to be at the computer to enable vPro in the first place. Finally, the connection...

Why are modern car adverts so tame & soulless?

I was in India a few weeks ago, they have much more in the way of stunts and speeding around a track (especially for motorbike adverts). They do come with a fairly prominent disclaimer along the lines of "performed by professionals on a closed track, do not try this at home". Can't see what's...

Sandy Bridge or wait for Haswell?

Haswell is absolutely eons away in computing terms. Don't worry about it. Only upgrade your computer to SB if it's not performing the tasks you need it to. As for DDR4, I'd expect it to be widely available by the time Haswell drops by. However, this is purely conjecture - very little is known...

    Virgin Media Upload Speed Upgrades

Regarding the quality of service from VM, I'd like to point out that we've been with them for over 8 years now, never had a single problem with them. Line's always been near full speed, latency has always been very low (typically 10-30ms). So it seems to depend on where you live. Jumping to Be...
