You don't need to pay someone to set it up unless worse comes to worst mate its just a matter of adjusting the tonearm weight yourself and generally playing around until it sounds right.
Tone arm height / weight adjustment / needle.
One other thing, the record could be slightly warped near the centre, if so its possible the needle might be running higher in the groove causing it to sound hollow and lack detail.
I have no experience with that motherboard but I hope this helps, I found the cheap arsed I/O backplate a bit of a pain on my ASRock 939Dual-SATA2.
The metal clips for the exterior should be near enough flush with the PS2 ports, push them out a bit but not too much, once you've hooked up...
I'm glad to see this thread still has legs... its been a while since I looked at it. In the 3-4 months I've been using this motherboard its held up like a trooper - for the price its truely amazing. Its quite possibly the best thing I've ever bought value wise for a PC.
Cal_G needs a big up...
This is an extremely tight budget and I'm in a bit of a muddle... OcUK please come to the rescue! My dad's friend wants a PC for his son mainly for school work and internet use, all on the measly budget of £200-250 or maybe just a little bit over.
The best I've come up with so far is £262.85...
Could someone recommend me a PC with a budget of £1,000 based around an Intel Core2DUO mostly for gaming and general multimedia use.
No monitor required just a case full of goodies!!
Thanks.
I'm currently on the lookout for a good micro ATX motherboard based on Socket 754 for a media centre running off an AMD 3000+ Athlon 64 with 1GB of memory. Decent onboard video would be ideal for HD divX streaming/on demand TV recording and such!
Thanks.
Does anyone know if its possible to setup a user profile with only internet access available in XP Pro (ie no hard drive access privledges etc)?
Thanks.
On this advice I've just Advance RMA'd mine. Although its within its permitted temperature its running too high for my liking, especially as I was intending it to contain a lot of my own music production samples/fx shortly. It's a risk I'm not willing to take after losing all of my tracks a year...
My WD HDD runs idle at 44c however I'm still waiting on a fan to hopefully bring this down.
Even with this high condition (considering 46-48 is the recommended 'highest' operating temp) WD Data Lifeguard reports the drive as being OK, its only speedfan thats giving decent enough feedback.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a motherboard for my old AMD AthlonXP 2000+ CPU? Small Form Factor is a must as its going under the telly. :) Onboard sound if possible, an AGP socket and two slots for 1GB of memory.
Its currently in my old setup on an awful MSI board. :(
Erm... this may seem like a silly question but I recently bought one of these floppy drives however I haven't a clue how the USB header is supposed to plug into the motherboard?
The header only has four connectors while my motherboard has the usual standard row of four pins then 3 (with one...
Professional studio proofing material might be your best choice, its much better than the stuff sold by many PC etailers. :)
www.silentpcreview.com is an excellent website with interesting reviews and a helpful forum.
Looks OK to me mate... You'll need the floppy drive as (you've mentioned) to install the SATA drivers during the XP install. Although make sure you download the latest set of drivers, don't use the ones on the CD provided with the board.
I was expecting the Realtek AC'97 on-board sound to be...
My new setup! Excuse the monitor I'm currently saving up for a new one... I've just this minute wired up the 5.1 kit I've had lying around for two years so that isn't included.
