Thanks, I'll give it a go :)
Not sure if the laptop has UEFI, but I'll try disabling if that's the case. Fixing the mbr has also popped up a few times, but I've already wiped the old Win 10 installation off the drive. Can I start a c prompt from the Win 10 installation USB so that I can get to...
Sorry, should have been clearer - it's at the latest BIOS already. Also, that link suggests I make a clean install which is exactly what I'm trying to do :D
Maybe I can try resetting the BIOS to default tonight
My better half’s Toshiba Portege Z935 was slowing down, and I figured I’d do some spring cleaning by means of a clean install of Windows 10. I’ve done this tons of times before and proceeded to create bootable media on a USB stick using Microsoft’s tool, booting from said stick, removing...
Any idea what wifi card I can pick up to fit a Toshiba Portege Z935 laptop? The card it came with only supports 2.4GHz but I'd like to be able to use 5GHz.
I'd imagine it would be one of the Intel Centrino Advanced-N cards, but don't know which one.
Appreciate it's not the easiest query...
I visit the UK 3-4 times a year and am looking for a PAYG SIM which includes data, and which I can just top up as and when I need to. It would be fantastic if any credit I already have would not disappear for at least 3-6 months.
Any ideas? Many thanks
Does anyone know if I could use one of the 6Gb/s SSDs, e.g. the MXT Mach Xtreme, with a laptop that has the P45 chipset (specifically, a Dell Latitude E6400)?
As I understand it you need the 6Gb/s bandwidth to take advantage of the 500MB/s read/write speeds this sort of drive offers...
As the title suggests, is there a driver that allows reading and writing to a Mac OS HFS+ external drive in Windows? I have a PC and a Mac, and I really can't believe how incompatible the two are in this day and age. Both have the latest OS versions installed, and yet I cannot r/w NTFS drives in...
Great, that did it. I was trying to take ownership of individual folders, but then the files would not be owned. This is a superior solution.
Many thanks.
I'm in the process of copying data of an old laptop that has died, and have placed the harddrive in a external USB enclosure. However, when I try access one of the folders under Documents and Settings I get a message saying:
"You don't currently have permission to access this folder. Click...
Great, thank you. I found a 1.8" micro SATA to USB adapter which should suffice. I won't need to use the drive on a permanent basis, just want to copy my data and then wipe it.
I have a 1.8" 64Gb SSD in my broken ThinkPad that I'm trying to get data of. Any idea what sort of adapter I need to connect it to a standard 2.5" SATA connector, like the one in an external HD case.
I've uploaded a picture of the SSD here: http://i56.tinypic.com/2njizjp.jpg
I'm hoping for...
Does anyone know if it's possible to restrict viewing rights of Facebook friends? Specifically I'm wondering if it's possible to set a a couple of people to only see the info I allow them, and that would not include my pictures or my wall.
Much appreciated!
I have a message popping up when starting a Windows 7 fresh-install laptop saying "Windows has detected a hard disk problem". Thing is the laptop is woking fine, and I've done a scan which includes a bad-sector check without finding any problems.
The message appears at every start and only...
