Well, headphones can't really deliver "true" surround sound, but technical limitations of two speakers compared to 4 (or 5...I'm not sure how many the Medusa's have but it's more than 2) mean that the Medusa's are closer to being surround sound than stereo. As for CMSS I haven't given that a go...

It sounds like he's wondering whether it's worth the upgrade to the "Pro Gamer" over the standard Medusa's. Plus, if you play games, surround sound is the best option. Medusa's aren't great sound quality, but better than a lot of others the same price and not 'terrible'.

My Medusa's are slowly breaking and the speedlink hub has gone after about 2 years of constant use, so I'm looking for a replacement. I've seen some "Steelsound" ones on OC but I'm not sure whether they allow me to plug in both my speakers and the headset, so I'm wondering if anyone can...

I don't think the original was meant to be scary, it was just a fast-paced FPS where you shot demons. Doom 3 tried too hard to be a real succesor to the Doom games - it added reloading, which just decreases the pace of it and the gameplay is boring. Having things jump out at you isn't scary, and...

Rubbish. If you can't tell the difference between front and back they're not plugged in correctly. They're fine sound quality and better for positioning than any stereo headset.

It's a pity the gameplay and the concept of it is still terrible.

Any surround sound headphones, prefrably Medusa's, will be best.
