    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

UPDATE: Fixed this last night using a CH341 programmer with SOIC8 clip, had to cut the plastic nose of the clip back a bit to expose the pins, but finally got a good connection. Interestingly I couldn't flash the main BIOS as it had some kind of protection circuit, but the secondary BIOS...

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

Yeah nah these are soldered in. Gotta weigh it up now, spend the money on the tools to fix, pay someone to fix or just bin it off and sell the other parts.

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

I will try again tonight with single stick of ram and the bootable usb with good bios on it and see what happens. If not I will be soldering in a new chip, never done that before but I like a challenge

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

Thanks. As above I know GPU is good as have had this board booting into OS. It is only after trying to flash BIOS 1 it has bricked both BIOS 1 & 2.

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

Thanks buddy, I'm familiar with how to update BIOS, the issue I am having is that the motherboard will not post so I have no signal/picture, BIOS is corrupt. Thanks.

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

Hi yes I have thought about that but soldering a chip isn't something I've done. This motherboard is essentially scrap and I didn't purchase these parts for it so could potentially give it a go, but would have to spend out on tools to do it. Just wondering if there was a solution before going...

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

I have the version 1.0 BIOS on a USB stick, I have tried powering on with the stick in the primary USB but I just get no signal. Does the USB stick need to be made bootable using Rufus to work?

    SOLVED: Dual BIOS both dead

Hi all maybe someone can help as this has me stumped. Bought a dead cheap system off Facebook for parts knowing it wouldn't boot. Tried to boot anyway and nothing, no signal. Noticed board had dual BIOS so switched to BIOS 2 and hey presto booted up. I plugged in my trusty Linux ssd and...

    Coolermaster ATCS case pics

@rare interested to know how you went about the polishing process, did you disassemble the chassis? I have holes in the base of this black widow I want rid of, going to drill the rivets on swap the parts over, anything I should watch out for?

Yes the one I have is a mesh branded one. I will be using the motherboard tray for my build. The old one that has already been cut about is going to get some serious work to it. I am determined to have an up to date version of this case. The only part that can't be touched is the front panel IMO.

OK most probably know but thought I would share. I recently picked up an old CM Praetorian 732, pretty ugly one with the big curved slab door on the front. Good news was that the chassis is basically identical to the ATCS 201's. The motherboard tray actually has two 80mm fans on these as well...

Just didn't fancy retro performance to be honest, had my fun with that kit back in the day, the black widow had a big custom water loop in it with an opteron 165 clocked to 100% over stock...those were the days. I feel like a modern low TDP build will be fine in these, I'm not looking to...

I just sold a bunch of old rare parts like dfi lanparty and corsair ddrs with the lights. I'm going to build modern rigs best I can in these two and actually use them

Nice. I had an ATCS 110 as well but I sold it such a regret but I only had space for 2. The silver is quite early as it doesn't have the top fan vent. Had some early silverstone cases too which were basically ATCS quality but also sadly gone. The collection needs to grow again!

Best linux distro for gaming ?

Valve make their money from selling games, I bet the margins on the Steam Deck are tight - for them its just another way of selling games.
