    Warranty Woes

They will probably cover the spring for sudden failure. If the spring has failed due to corrosion it’s not sudden failure. Edit I’d also expect them to have a clause in their terms which states they don’t cover corrosion, blockages, water ingress and accident damage. If your spring snapped...

    Leased vehicle - MOT question

You got generic comms from them which goes out regardless of the lease length. Some customers take 4 and 5 year leases

    Rocketing tyre prices

Just bought a full set of pilot sports. 20s on the car. Under £845 fully fitted through Costco. Cheaper than the last set.

*** The Official iPhone 15 thread (it has USB-C and everything!) ***

Just picked up a 15 pro. Coming from an SE2 is like night and day. I especially like the battery lasting more than 6 hours.

Lease car return with cosmetic damage - repair or take the hit?

Worked in and around the leasing industry for about 20 years. My advice is: If it is a major repair, needing insurance claims and body shops, get the repair done. If it’s a few smart repairs just leave them and get the lease company to invoice you. Sure the cost could be more expensive...

    Massive Car insurance costs?

I love driving the fiesta but I’ve had it for five and a half years at this point and I just fancy a change. Paid £14k for it at 12 months old and 4500 miles on the clock. I’ve been offered £11k part ex. I could probably get more selling it private but I really can’t be bothered with the...

    Massive Car insurance costs?

So I’m currently going through the process of selling my 2017 Fiesta ST3 and buying a 2020 Golf R. I’ve read all the horror stories regarding the insurance costs on the Golf and had prepared myself for the inevitable increase in insurance premiums. Reading up online and doing insurance quotes on...

    Why are you not vegan....

I’ve tried quite a bit of vegan food over the last couple of years (albeit the processed kind). Some has been very good however a lot of it has been average/nothing to write home about. The main ‘issue’ for me at least is that the texture just isn’t quite right.

What annoys you about your current car?

2017 Fiesta ST3 two things. The doors don’t automatically lock when you drive off and the teeny tiny infotainment screen. They could have easily put a bigger screen into the dash but instead they went with something akin to an old Nokia phone and lots of plastic surrounding it.

Anyone do wombling (litter picking) here

I normally do our end of the road and the park at the end. Our road ends with allotments and a smallish park area. There is also an alleyway which leads you through to a much larger grassed park area and onto a housing estate. The litter is much much worse it term times as the kids use our road...

When are you going fully electric?

I have no doubt it will be expensive for a warm/hot hatch. I also have my doubts that we are going to see the days of (relatively) cheap cars again. To use a phrase I absolutely hate. I wouldn’t be surprised if current EV prices are the ‘new norm’. In as much as EVs represent a fundamental...

When are you going fully electric?

The Cupra Born could be a serious contender to replace my Fiesta ST depending on price.

Buying a car with outstanding finance?

Yeah done it before. Got the seller to confirm the settlement figure and give me authority to speak with the finance company directly. Paid the finance off directly and gave the difference to the seller. Was a really simple process to be honest.

Lease deals are poor at the moment

The Golf R price was pretty much down to an accounting error and the residual value being over estimated.

Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

My current thought on this is that it had a major service last time which included greasing various things, checking other things and replacing the spark plugs. Ultimately all of these items were done 800 miles ago, albeit 12 months ago. I’m therefore thinking interim service to get the filters...

What's the mileage on your car, want to see the highest mileage ..

17 plate Ford Fiesta ST3 so getting on for 4 years old. At very high 18184 miles....... sometimes I wonder why I even bother having a car at that annual mileage.

Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

I’ve got a servicing question. Google seems to have stumped me this evening. 17 plate ST3 at just over 18k miles. What service is due at 4 years? The last service was completed this time last year, but thanks to lockdown the car has only covered about 800 miles since. I’m happy to get a major...

How did you decide on your 'forever' home?

We bought our first house 7 years ago and to be honest at the beginning we didn’t see it as our ‘forever’ home. It’s a 3 bed post war ex council house in a ‘dodgy’ housing estate. Lots of comments from people when we were buying it that ‘you wouldn’t catch me living there’ and what not...

    Disney +

Yep we moved away from traditional sky years ago. We did get NowTV but that only costs us 12-13 quid a month for the movies and entertainment passes combined after the discounts. I think we currently get somewhere between 40-50% off. If it was full price I would seriously consider cancelling it.

What proportion of your household income was your first mortgage?

Oh I agree, and if the question was what percentage of your income is your total outgoings I would put it closer to 40-45% (including food, the odd takeaway, petrol, Netflix etc). We’ve always tried to work on the basis that all of our outgoings can be covered by the single lowest salary. That...
