But what dictates how popular a song is?. You'll hear a song on the radio well before it's out in the shops. As I explained above radio 1 still has to cater for all tastes, some more than others, because DAB is yet to replace analogue (and prolly never will).

Part of the problem with that is you can only get 1xtra and Asian network on DAB or on digital TV. DAB is hardly popular atm and who watches the radio? So if you took all the 'black' music off radio 1 then there'd be uproar. But the seemingly disproportionate amount of black music is not...
