    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Yes! Definitely good advice. I noticed they also sell some international models also which can have language changed and set to PAL frame rate etc. X100VIs are completely sold out here. Most camera stores aren't even showing / advertising them in the Fuji sections, if you ask the store...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

@mingeroonie - good choice! I'm in Japan and looking in Bic Camera and other camera stores, kid in a candy store! I've been having a look at Fuji and Sony. Being able to handle the cameras and the lenses is just brilliant. One thing thats struck me is just how much smaller and lighter Sony...

It's not the first time. I used to travel with 5D3 and 5D4, but I'd weigh myself down with lenses that weigh 1kg, then just add more in the backpack! I'm my own worst enemy for it.

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Another bit of purchasing news. I've bought new lenses, for the first time in 6 something years I think?! My first RF lenses. After much internal thought about what to do about Canon and their infuriating ways regarding 3rd party lenses I was close to considering Fuji Film as a second camera by...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

@mingeroonie - I paid £224 for it. When I purchased it at the beginning of last month, there was a $31 off discount running. I think if you keep a look-out, you'll likely get even more off. Delivery is pretty good, takes around 7 working days, direct from Ulanzi. I thoroughly recommend this...

I've been using PD straps for many years now, they work very well. When I went mirrorless I changed to the Slide Lite, great strap / system. Just watch out for signs of wear and change the anchors when you see any. I think my quest for the near perfect tripod may have come to an end? I've used...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

Ah yes, it would likely be Kanazawa then to Kyoto, then on to Osaka. But as you say, I guess it doesn't matter which order it's done in, as we will be heading back in the same direction. We do want to visit Hiroshima whilst we are likely staying at Osaka, and also Nara. Both of those locations...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

It's been a bit rocky with the planning and a bit late in the day, but we have booked accommodation for the first two bases in Tokyo and Kanazawa. It's funny you mentioned Kanazawa, it came up quite a few times in researching places. Looks fascinating and has some very nice looking traditional...

    Fuji X Series

Seeing all the news and leaks about the X100VI has me interested. But rumours suggest it's looking like it's going to cost some £1700. For a fixed lens camera, I just don't know about that. If I wanted to dip my toes in the Fujifilm world, I think I'd rather go for an interchangeable camera for...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

You would definitely need to use it more to justify the purchase, it's not cheap at all. Quite a few number of improvements have been made since the Mk1 though. With it being released in 2018, I think most phones these days would provide a better overall quality of video, minus the stablisation...

Images of items I have purchased (except trainers)

It's very good. Comparable image quality to far bigger cameras which would still need a gimbal. Really blown away by it!

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

I was considering buying a gimbal for my Canon R5, but then reminded myself that they are not exactly travel friendly, they cost a lot and I kept asking myself; realstically how often am I actually going to use it on my R5. As if my R5 is on a gimbal, I'm not going to be taking photos with it! I...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

Thanks @Raymond Lin, really useful info and great captures. It sounds like you are right. that heading else where to capture the Sakura first might have to be the thing to do. Although, I wanted to try and avoid travel so soon after arriving, as jet lag will kill me. I need to have a think...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

It'll be early April, so will be hopefully in cherry blossom season, so some good spots to see the cherry blossom would be good. I'm thinking not a crazy amount of traveling, but enough for perhaps stay at two or three different plances outside of Tokyo. I do need to do some research on areas to...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

I know, I always take too much. It's a problem I have! If I was to take a 24-70, I would have to rent it. I'm not against renting, but kinda think the 24-105 would be more vertitle. The Sigma 35 1.4 I do enjoy using but it is heavy. This is why the RF 28 2.8 pancake caught my eye, whilst not...

Japan Trip - What to Pack?

I'm heading to Japan later this year and I know we have a few people here that have visited. So, I'm looking for some advice on what to pack. I will be bringing my Canon R5 and am currently using 100% adapted EF lenses. EF 4 LIFE! Y'ALL! ;)..... yeah... We won't talk about how they are worth...

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

I'm done with storage upgrades now. 2TB SSD plus this. I'll likely use this purely for emulation, looking forward to going down that rabbit hole over next couple of days.

I used some thin guitar picks that I have. Just take your time and don't use excessive pressure. Mine popped off quite easily by starting at one of the triggers and running the pick along the seam.

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

I can't seem to stop buying games. Really tempted by Diablo 4. Played the demo and enjoyed it and see it's back on offer again.
