Spec Me A Simple Sound Setup

Complete upgrade of Home Cinema setup

Well, if you're mainly interested in music, and not particularly interested in the video conversion facilities of similarly priced Denon etc amps, then you'd be hard pressed to find a reason not to go for the Cambridge Audio. Besides the remote that is - it really annoys me - the buttons have to...

    Holy crap - new Sigma 200-500mm f2.8

I saw that picture and had to double check it wasn't April Fool's Day!

    Drop of orange anyone?

I really like it - did you try having the orange fill only about the bottom 2/3 of the image background, with maybe a plain background? I just find the orange being so central slightly distracting, but that's probably just me...

    Too much photoshop?

Thanks for the positive comments guys, it's nice and encouraging! The stars actually look a lot better in the full size photo, they were actually from an 8MP photo so not lacking in resolution. I think it's a combination of shrinking the photo down and decreasing the opacity of that layer...

    Too much photoshop?

I took this pic at Roath Park Lake, Cardiff, but obviously with any night time exposure the orange light pollution just pushed everything else out. Anyway, I changed the colour of the image at the top and bottom to a deep blue, then added some stars from a photo I took in Mallorca. Original...

    Tamron 28-75MM F/2.8 Vs Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8

I was just checking whether I had it saved or not, I assumed I had, but apparently not. Anyway, if you wanted to e-mail, then "ocuk-ab1385 'at' alexanddebbie.co.uk" should work :)

    Adding Borders, Retaining EXIF

Are you doing 'save for web'? I think that loses the EXIF, but if you save just as normal JPEG it doesn't lose it... Don't actually have PS to check though. EDIT: D'oh, you already addressed that. Out of ideas then. :(

    Fixing dull skies..

Step 5, change your back and foreground colours back to black and white. Then, with the layer the layer mask selected, apply another graduated fill of black to white to it, like this... Step 6, apply the layer mask... Step 7, save as JPEG, which will automatically flatten the...

    Fixing dull skies..

BIG WORDS? Sorry, couldn't resist! I can only really show how to do it in the GIMP as I don't have photoshop to show with, but I'd imagine it would be very similar... Anyway, step 1, create a new layer.. Step 2, fill with a graduated fill, from a deeper blue to a slightly lighter...

    Tamron 28-75MM F/2.8 Vs Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this, so feel free to tell me off if this is the case, but I may well have a Tamron f/2.8 28-75 up for sale - I just can't afford this and a wide angle so I want something to cover both sides like the Canon 17-85 IS. Interested at all?

    Fixing dull skies..

Why not just cheat and add a blue gradient to the sky? Here's a 5 second attempt:

    Rainbow Water

You probably won't believe this, but for printing canvas prints this site is just incredible. Intelligence Direct A 10"x10" (25x25cm) print onto lightweight poly canvas, unmounted, and with a 2 cm border (which I have used before and looks great) costs... wait for it.... £2.62. Yes, you...

i want to blow up this pic...help

There's no reason to have the JPEG quality above 85% on a pic that noisy, it just wouldn't make any real difference. Open it up next to the larger files, I bet this one is no less sharp for the smaller file size. EDIT: I gave it one more go, if this is of any use:

    Pilot's boat in Turkey

Easy enough to crop out. :) Obviously could be done better, but this is my 30 sec version to show it can be done!

EDIT: Screatch that, I think I preferred my 1st go. Never mind!

i want to blow up this pic...help

My take on howell80's version of this - USM on the main building, and used a gaussian blur selectively on the sky to reduce noise. Only the foreground, and a little of the noise on the building to sort out now...

    Blurred Borders...?

I did it pretty much the same way in the ones you linked to using the GIMP, rather than photoshop. Just created a white layer, then a background copy, so the order is background, white layer, background copy. Selected the background copy, select the entire layer, chose select -> shrink ->...

    Squirrels...

Better? I had a go at improving them, but I'm not too sure. There's something about these that I'm just almost happy about, but not quite. Opinions?

    Squirrels...

Thanks a lot guys, comments and help appreciated! I only have the GIMP - is there a good way of doing noise removal there? I find that you lose a lot of detail doing noise removal in RAWShooter - maybe not an issue when it is resized down. I'll give it a go. :)
