i am looking to either build or buy a new media centre pc nothing fancy but it must be able to play 1080p content, want to keep it as cheap as possible but must play 1080p i will be using it on a samsung 40" 1080p lcd, will it be best to use an hdmi connection? many thanks

re-installed and booting now, if this works i am gonna be well chuffed but i will still need to get the right monitor drivers working, so i can run it in widescreen one step at a time eh?:D

i have uninstalled the drivers for the gpu and can now change the resolution the monitor is what i am having trouble installing properly i don't think this is going to have a happy ending

hmmm maybe a reinstall would be a good idea, but i can see this all happening again once that is done:mad:

tried driver cleaner, restarted and installed the drivers and the problems the same as before, halfway into the install the problems return and once rebooted they persist is it time to ring EVGA?

the thing is i can't access the nvidia control panel, once the drivers are installed its impossible to change the settings, is there anyway of doing this in safe mode? when i go to control panel and click the nvidia controller in safe mode it does nothing thank you

hmmm it's not running any higher than 80 ish i don't think, ive opened the case and unplugged the ide connector for the cd-rom which may have been causing it to overheat and it seems to be running quite abit faster in prey,medi2 and HL2ep1, before i did this i started seeing squares of triangle...

right i think you guys are right and its overheating, i can't find the uk tech support number for evga, if its faulty will they send out a replacement? there's no visible reason why its overheating and the thought of sending it away for diagnosis is not a happy one :mad:

ive left the temperature monitor running for the past 12 mins, tried Medi2 and prey and it dosent exceed 74-76, case is a lian-li pc-7, well ventilated and haven't had any problems yet which are the right drivers to download for this card? i go to nvidia's site and am unsure which ones i need...
