Silent CD's with Media player 11

It's not MP11 after all, where do I go from here!!!!! The plot thickens, or maybe it's just me. I didn't realise that WinDVD will quite happily play CDs as well as DVDs. On PC1 all is well. On PC2 DVDs are fine, but still no CD audio. Any ideas where I should look for the problem. I am...

Silent CD's with Media player 11

As far as I can tell all the settings are the same. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, free, alternative to MP11? :(

Silent CD's with Media player 11

I don't have a cable from the drive to the sound card. The setup guide for the card said that you don't need one. Both PCs are OK with DVDs (winDVD), and in fact one PC is OK with MP 11 for CD audio, but the other is silent.

Silent CD's with Media player 11

Hi, I have two PC's both using MP 11, M-audio 5.1 Rev sound cards and connected via the Digital out to an AV amp. I don't have any other speakers so all audio has to go via Spdif. Both PCs play DVDs correctly, I am using WinDVD 5, but only one of the PC's will output CD audio to the amp, I just...

    Abit KV8pro FDD not accessable

There is no visible twist in the round cable, but there is in the flat cable supplied. Tried the flat cable as suggested (twist closest to the FDD), no change. It's only when I invert the cable and plug in that it clears the fault. :)

    Abit KV8pro FDD not accessable

The lugs on the plugs mean that it will only fit in one orientation no matter which end you plug in to the mobo. I have just check it again. With the plug correctly orientated on the mobo, lug in the slot on the socket (only one slot), the plug has to be reversed on the FDD - pin1/red...

    Abit KV8pro FDD not accessable

Thanks Thanks guys. It would appear that the mobo socket is cabled back to front. I tried two FDDs, and two cables, none of them worked with the cable fitted correctly, lug to notch. I've had to gently force the cable on to the FDD upside down. It now works a treat. :)

    Abit KV8pro FDD not accessable

Hi, I have just rebuilt my system with an Abit KV8pro mobo. I want to create some rescue disks (FDs)but the FDD doesn't think it has a disk in. Windows thinks it's there and working properly. I have tried another unit but the same thing happens. Any ideas please

Replaced mobo now PC won't boot

I have some more information. I was talking to one of our Harware guys this morning. He said that the "serial Ch0 master" refers to the SATA interfaces. My HDD, and other drives are all IDE. I did notice in the BIOS that SATA was enabled but didn't think it would be an issue, looks as though it...

Replaced mobo now PC won't boot

Hi, I have tried to re-install XP, but only once, as it failed with a BSD, saying it had stopped the install to prevent damage to the PC.

Replaced mobo now PC won't boot

I have just replaced my mobo as the old one had a faulty USB header. The new ("used") mobo is a different model to the previous one but still Gigabyte. I now have a 7VT600 1394. When it tries to boot it say "Serial_CH0 Master : No Device Serial_CH1...
