Are home evaporative air coolers safe?

http://www.hse.gov.uk/legionnaires/cooling-towers.htm seems fine for legionnaires, says nothing about frogs though

Poor old Anders Breivik's human rights have been violated

They weren't children, they were teenage members of the ruling Socialist party youth wing. At least wait a few years before you try to rewrite this issue into a more politically correct version of history. We are lucky we live in a politically reasonable and democratic country where unlike...

    RIP Prince

I don't think that being a celebrity musician in America is a safe career, when even the Doctors are out to get you.

UK to take 3,000 extra child refugees

That's not going to happen because we haven't made the same disastrous social and religious mistakes as other countries, so what you are saying is that we are morally responsible for every single country with a backward culture? I'm not making a point about the current situation, but your...

Poor old Anders Breivik's human rights have been violated

Would you request the same for Michael Adebolajo? Because if you don't then that is just promoting hatred of political thinking that you happen to disagree with. There's no point in vindictive punishment for political or religious inspired terrorism, because obviously there will be another one...

****** Official World of Tanks OcUK Clan ******

Only tier IV but the Pz.Kpfw. B2 740 is great, like a Pz J with a better gun and it always gets in as top tier. also cheap as a cheap thing, £15 for the tank and about £15 worth of gold included (ish..) Are we talking about the same tank? The Tetrarch was a recent freebie I think? And it's...

Channel 4 - What British Muslims Really Think

I'm sure Jews would be delighted, Gods chosen people and all that, and I'm pretty sure muslims don't like western culture very much, so why would they want to be part of our over sexualised binge drinking world? It's awful... It's nice to know that one side isn't being influenced by a...

The EU Referendum: How Will You Vote? (April Poll)

They don't, that's the point. We are paying them billions to accept our unwanted refugees. If they make all those refugees European citizens then they will all flood straight into Germany (nobody with another option would want to stay in Turkey) (And they get to keep the money)

The EU Referendum: How Will You Vote? (April Poll)

Yes they do, subject to say three years of naturalisation, and a Secret Squirrel promise to not blow anything up. If Turkey became a member of the EU they could arbitrarily decide that naturalisation was done in one year, hand out EU citizenship to people we'd hoped were not coming back and...

Channel 4 - What British Muslims Really Think

The issue there was a system that allowed the issue to arise (priests can't marry, hence attracting the sexually dysfunctional along with the devout), and a system by which the abuse could be covered up (church hierarchy, a closed order and protection of the name of the church) Which is also...

    house survey

You only have to tell insurance companies about existing problems, it's up to them to know about the surrounding area. A new house would have been built with knowledge of any immediate ground conditions that could affect the foundations, so I would say there isn't much of an issue here.

Window / Door Frame - Paint

Depends on the bodge level of the previous painter and the number of layers of paint. If it is starting to look like they'd used melted ice cream then I'd start again, but unless there are obvious flaw then sanding is fine. Doorways get noticed more than bathroom sills, put a pot plant on it.

    Recessed spotlight spacing

This really, lighting is never watts/m2, it's more about what that room is used for - just as sitting beneath a spotlight in a cinema is annoying, it's the same for a lounge. A book on lighting design would be handy to explain the issues and help use the different types of lights to solve them...

    Water Filters

200mg/l is the limit for most boilers so that's a problem. You don't have to get anything hugely expensive, you can just get something that doses with polyphosphate, and link the feeds for the boiler and shower. £46.00 http://www.screwfix.com/p/polyphosphate-combi-care-scale-inhibitor/68371...

    Light on Fence

Spotlights pointed at the surrounding vegetation would open up the space a bit more, and I'm guessing you are not needing to read a book. Lighting up your immediate area would just have you sitting in a tiny puddle of light, just as a campfire only lights up the immediate area.

6 inch ceiling cavity - fill with what to cancel out some noise?

Address the holes first, they will be letting in most of the sound. I did toy with the idea of an 8" box made of plasterboard above each spotlight, mainly for fireprooofing and sealing out the spiders, but it would help with sound penetration too. Depends on your access as you'd be doing this...

    Question about reversible tumble dryers

Just washed my bedsheets, they appear to dry all by themselves in 48 hours? I've not used the tumble dryer since Winter. I've never noticed a tangling problem in my entire life, although I believe those spikey balls are supposed to help.
