    Walkabout DSLR bag?

I use a Lowepro Toploader as my walkabout/quick access bag & backpack type for when carrying everything incl. the kitchen sink as if need be you can use both together. You can buy different sizes of Toploader to suit your needs & you can add to it if required (I've added a case for another lens...

Recommendations for an entry level digital SLR....

The A200 was probably the best value DSLR of it's era - but it's been out of production now for over a year. The A230 is essentially a facelifted version of it (& with a sharper kit lens) but ergonomically it is smaller so some people didn't like that. Sony also have a £50-80 cashback...

    Abit Ip35-Pro Question

last I know of is a beta with added support for EO stepping CPUs www.abitshop.eu/bios/m629b_18.bin It doesn't sound to me like a BIOS problem though.

Abit IP35pro died - recommendations please

loops through to what (i.e. what codes are displayed after you hit F1)?

Abit IP35pro died - recommendations please

7F is the board waiting on an input from you. try hitting F1 when you see it.

    Abit ip35 + 4gb ddr2 1066

that's probably just an error - it's the same chipset, even the lower spec. IP35P & IP35V support 1066 memory.

    IP35 Pro - 0.1. error code

So, the 3VSB LED isn't on & presumably not the VCC either? My gut feeling is it's a power problem.

    fan headers on motherboard

uGuru was the best onboard fan control going & tbh I don't think that it's been bettered yet. I don't think that you understand what it can do when set up properly - it will dynamically adjust fan rpm according to set reference temps (selectable CPU, Sys or PWM) . So e.g. it may run a fan at...

What does • 1/2.3" Type CCD mean ?

1/2.3" or 1/1.7" is the size of the sensor. CCD is the type of sensor as opposed to a CMOS one.

    I miss ABIT.

I still think that the Abit AN8 series were probably the best all round 939/nF4 mobos going. Imo better than the Asus A8N series & yes, a DFI could hit a slightly higher fsb or push the memory a bit harder but it would give you imperceptible improvements in performance & be noisier & touchier...

    I miss ABIT.

    but name a better VIA K8T800 Pro/ VT8237 chipset mobo ... the Asus A8V DeLuxe certainly wasn't.

    I miss ABIT.

tbh I don't think that there was a good 650i SLI mobo. same as imo the other candidate for worst abit mobo was the F-I90HD where again I lay the blame at the door of the chipset. Not really surprising to me that only 1 other mobo afaik was made using that chipset.

tamron 55-200 dg II. yay or nay?

in terms of image quality it's normally classed as remarkable for the price - but even after the price rises at the end of last year these are usually ~£100 (€115) in the UK for most mounts & available for even less in Nikon mount. 200mm isn't much for wildlife though.

Congrats, it is indeed a great lens for the money. Just don't ever try the 70-400 G SSM - you'll want it! ;)

    New Nikon Lenses: 16-35 f/4 VRII and 24mm f/1.4

get a Sony & have both - a stabilised 16-35/2.8 Zeiss. Admittedly that currently retails for quite a bit more - it will be interesting to see if Sony reacts to this appearing from Nikon & adjusts the price at all (I suspect not).

Had DSLR less than a week, Tamron 70-300..?

believe that ~42mm in 35mm/FF terms approximates the human eye view - iirc there was some economic/manufacturing reason why they originally used 50mm & it kind of stuck.

Had DSLR less than a week, Tamron 70-300..?

imo the Tamron is better than the non-APO Sigma with the APO Sigma being better than the Tamron (of course it's also in % terms substantially dearer). & I'm not sure that the Sigmas are available with an in-lens motor for AF (which the D3000 needs for AF) - the Tamron definitely is.
