I got a bad axe mainboard and will be getting a conroe E6600 upon release of it...does anyone know or has seen a bad axe mainboard work with the corsair xms2 6400 ram? I know the board supposedly supports only 533 or 667 speeds, but I think i read somewhere it will take some 800mhz ram too...

Hi, I got the bad axe board which states 533 or 667 memory. Im sure ive read it also goes upto ddr2 800...but cant remember where? I got revision 304 and will be getting a E6600 to go with it. Im looking for 2gb kit, ie 2x1gb dual channel at the highest speed i can get. Any ideas?

Well that statement contradicts what two other etailers, possibly the two biggest in this country have said on the phone to me a couple of days ago. With one boasting that they are waiting to go out once intel authorise it, which was said to be 27th July.

Perhaps they dont know? I mean the competitors I spoke to are considerably bigger in size (ie units orderd and sold per week) so it stands to reason that intel will deal with those first. I can only assume OCuk are going on what Intel have told them.

No confirmation as yet friday is launch date...infact most online etailers are saying 27th today...

agreed as standard they are limited...with awkward bios settings imo. But if you update the bios to the intel engineers revision u will have a totally new board, with very very good overclocking features.

it could be to support the new 985 chipset next year...I was told recently that early ES conroes will support only 965 and 975 chipsets...

The intel bad axe board can be unlocked in two ways...one, is to have it modded. Totally pointless and will lose your warranty. Way two is to use the Intel technician bios, which I got off a guy, which unlocks all of the options. Many of which were open in very early benchmarks. The intel...

mine cost £129.18 from anothe ronline etailer....but ive spoken to three before i brought and they all supply oem boards WITH a manual. They also like ocuk have buy in system builder packs of either 10 or 20. But importantly there are other retailers out there offering the bad axe guaranteed...
