yeah, true say! it's being delivered tomorrow morning so I don't have to wait long :D :D thanks for the advice Billy & ghgh; people on this forum are always quick to help! :) one more question though... opening the laptop up and installing more RAM would void the warranty wouldn't it?

seeing as i've bought it from Dell, would it be relatively easy/hard to install some extra RAM in the future? the extra stick of RAM was working out too much for my budget when I purchased it a few days ago EDIT: wrong sub-forum i know :o

my desktop has 2Gb RAM, the laptop only has 1Gb - will that make a difference to the performance? I'll be doing audio creation & editing. i'm a n00b to all this, can u tell? lol :p

Hey guys :) I've just ordered a new laptop from Dell, Inspiron 640M with a Core 2 Duo Processor, the T5500 (1.66 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB). I want to know if this processor will rival my desktop - i've got a Pentium D 805 @ stock speed (2.66Ghz) Any ideas? Thanks in advance :D

Hey guys, Most benchmarks for CPU's are to do with Photoshop, Games etc. Does anyone know the difference between each Core2Duo and Quad Core when it comes to music production i.e. using Cubase etc. Would really help me out, thanks guys :)

I might get someone professional to fit my conroe once it comes, so they can apply the paste and stuff :) As I said, i'm n00b :p

you know what that really concerned me too; i'm relatively new to overclocking, and building computers in general... do you reckon this could be happening becuase I haven't fitted the fan properlly, like, not enough thermal paste or something...? :confused:

Wow, that's amazing, i never knew how powerful they really were!! I'm a music producer, and my PD is maxing out really easily, even at 3Ghz, and the temps are going thru the roof, reaching 77 degrees C. What sort of temps do the conroe's reach? Stock temps and OCed temps :)

so you're E6300 @ 1.86Ghz is as fast as a 3.7Ghz PD? :confused:
