Does your car affect the way others drive

I've found exactly the same thing. I always assumed that it was the colour, either they think yellow is a friendly colour and want to let me through, or they think yellow is dangerous so they give me a bit of space... or maybe they just feel sorry for me because I drive a yellow car :D

    Country Lanes

I'm all for country lane hoonage. Arguably the safest place to give your car a bit of welly. No pedestrians, and very little in the way of other cars. I've only been driving for 4 months, but I tend to go out for a 25-30 mile country lane drive almost every night, so I've got a fair bit of...

How fast do you go on the motorway?

I've only really done three big motorway journeys so far. The first one I stuck to 70, the second I stuck to a constant 85, then on the last one between 90-130 (Middle of the night, slowing down when overtaking the occasional people I passed). I guess it's a terrible case of "Hmm, well...

First car advice please, 5k budget

I spent £5k on my first car 4 months ago which I got told was very unsuitable (Leon Cupra 20VT), but practically it's been fine and haven't had any bumps / near misses yet. The only thing I would say is that going from non car ownership to car ownership is ridiculously expensive. A lot more...

    undertaking

Middle lane hogs suck, but undertaking is extremely dangerous. The only near-miss I've ever had on the motorway was when I was overtaking someone in the middle lane that was doing about 75, I was in the far right lane doing about 85. The guy I'm overtaking pulls into the driving lane and I see a...

    anyone know about track days

My younger brother's mate has been racing since he was about 8 or so, starting at karts and moving up. I'd wager that when he took his test at 17 he was a better (racing) driver than most people on here. Plus Jenson Button failed his first driving test and I don't think anyone is going to...

    Oil change

I said I'd just got my pink license through the post which is a full UK one, provisional is green. I'm also 24 and in a very low risk area so the insurance on my Cupra is about the same as most teenagers pay on a small engined car. I guess it could just be that I've never noticed the car...

    Oil change

It seems that I'm an idiot. I checked the manual to find out what oil I needed and realised I was using dipstick incorrectly (I thought the plastic bits on the dipstick were the min and max levels, not the little bent bit of metal  ). According to the service history the oil was...

    Oil change

Basically the sputtering has happened twice, both times when the engine is cold and I'm just coming down my road at about 5-mph in 1st gear with the clutch fully up (small road with parked cars on both sides). Once the engine has warmed up the car seems fine. Also yes, I'm talking about the...

    Oil change

This may sound like a stupid question, but I've noticed my car running really dodgily recently (when pulling off it kangaroos a bit even when holding the gas constant). I just checked the Oil and it seems to be below the minimum level. How exactly do I change the oil? I'm guessing this is...

    'Curfew' deal for young motorists

Do you really think that lumping the responsible young drivers who have to drive at night because of their job etc. with the insurance burden of the MacDonalds boy racer crew is an acceptable thing to do? Because of the industry I work in I sometimes do 15 hour+ days. If I have to drive at...

Rear view mirrors - get with the times!

I could see the point in doing that at night for night-vision etc, but would hate to think how expensive the camera and display would have to be to match the quality of directly reflecting the images into your eyes with a bit of reflective glass. Plus it's just more stuff to fix if it breaks...

    My First Car (Pics)

Nice first car. Quite sensible and economic being only a 1.6, but I do think Focus'/Focii/Focuseses look quite sporty in black, so it's not exactly boring. Good choice. :)

Leon Cupra Vs Leon Cupra R

Well if you're not going to have a properly sporty set-up you might as well have a comfy ride instead. :)

Leon Cupra Vs Leon Cupra R

I remember seeing a 5th gear shootout between the Focus RS, Civic Type R, and the Leon Cupra R. The LCR was understeering all over the place and got killed on the track. Tiff did say it was definitely the nicest for driving on the road though.

Leon Cupra Vs Leon Cupra R

I agree. I just found out I'm probably getting a £1k bonus at work in a couple of months so I know where that's going. Bye bye ugly alloys. :D

    Smoking while driving

Haha, unfortunately that's so true. I swear if I do crash it's going to be caused by spending just a little too long checking out some girl's legs in my mirrors, not because of smoking in the car. :D

Leon Cupra Vs Leon Cupra R

The R bodykit looks far better, as do the alloys. The brakes are bigger and I believe the suspension is better. The interior is a bit sportier looking in the R too. I think the first Cupra Rs were only 210bhp instead of the 225 of the later Rs though. A standard non modified standard Cupra...

    Smoking while driving

I've only smoked once in my car when I was on a dual carriageway to calm down after a stressful stint in a really busy petrol station. I don't think it affects your driving too much because unlike using a phone you have both hands on the wheel and are in your regular driving position 95% of the...

Is this a Cupra or Cupra R

It's pretty much the same car as I have (Regular Cupra with extra stick on tat), except that the only you posted is 2 years older, has the Cupra R alloys, leather, and is £600 cheaper. The Cupra R is slightly faster than the Cupra (but not by loads), but also has better handling and brakes...
