You make a good point. I'll start scouring the bay as I clearly can't be trusted in the 'members market' :p .
Out of the cards you listed, do any of them run cooler or draw less power than the others? This case I have doesn't have much scope for adding more fans.
Ok. Various sources tell me the 4x / 8x AGP thing isn't really an issue.
What does worry me though is that this case doesn't have any fans apart from the PSU, and that PSU is only 400W.
Am I going to balls everything up going for a significant upgrade? I don't want to whack a 6 or 7 series...
Thanks for that. Just realised I'll probably need to get an AGP4x card so that the signalling voltages are compatible.
Let me guess, they don't make them anymore? :(
First of all, thanks to everyone who's posted
I generally try to steer clear of second hand components, as I worry I'm getting something that has been stressed out with overclocking or has an intermittent problem. Had to RMA a Raptor I got from 'the bay' and while I'm happy now it's...
Wise Sirs and Madams of the Forums,
The Geforce4 Ti4200 in my second rig has shuffled off its mortal coil, and I require a replacement. The other specs are as follows:
ECS K7S5A (AGP4x)
Athlon X1900XP
1 GB RAM
I'd like to take the opportunity to get a faster card, but obviously I'd...
PROBLEM SOLVED!
All is now resolved and working fine. I decided to google my error message and found this to be a common glitch if you've been unfortunate enough to have previous run-ins with Norton Antivirus (got rid of it years ago but it haunts me to this day :p ).
For those interested...
There's plenty of hard drive space on both machines, that's what's so confusing about the error message! I've tried enabling sharing of different folders and trying to access them from the other comp, and whilst they then appear as shared, trying to open them results in the same complaint...
How do I change access permissions for individual users? As far as I can see the user accounts can only be switched between two settings, administrator or limited (and I only use administrator accounts of course)
BTW Thanks for your help!
When I follow the above instructions it tries to access the share folder I specify but fails and says it cannot setup the network drive because there is not enough server space. Server space? What can this mean?
Again, the network drive mapping has worked in one direction, but not the other...
Neither comp has third party firewall software installed and the windows firewalls are both switched off. I'm relying on the hardware firewall provided by my router for external security, which shouldn't interfere with LAN traffic.
Thanks anyway.
Can anyone help me with my noob question? :p
I have 2 xp home comps connected to a router and am trying to set up file/folder sharing between the two. I have run the network setup wizard on both but whilst one comp can open the shared documents folder on the other. The reverse is not...
Hi,
I have an old Athlon 1900XP and ECS K7S5A machine which has begun to develop an intermittent start up problem, so I'm hoping someone here will recognise the issue and know what it is likely to be.
Occasionally, after the memory test I get a beep code (2 short beeps: memory?) and the...
