    Anyone got braces?

I had braces in for a year or so when I was ~17 to sort out some /serious/ gaps. When they came off, my teeth were perfect and I was very pleased. I then kept a retainer in for another year or so, during which time they moved slightly, but were still OK. Once the retainer was off they spaced...

    the mr2 5 days in

That's quite normal. In Minis it'll drop to half way very quickly, then drop slower and slower as it goes down. You can go a number of degrees below "empty" too. When the top of the needle is completely past the empty line, it's time to plan to fill up in the next day or so.

TV License! (I know, I know but need a little rant)

We get numerous letters from TV Licensing, all very rude and threatening, telling us that we're going to be taken to court if we don't pay our licence fee. The best part - we have a TV licence. We've had one for this house for over 20 years. Every few letters we used to phone them up and tell...

Christmas Eves Eve, eve's eve or eves' eve?

If you want to use double eve, then it'd be Christmas Eve Eve. It's not "Christmas' Eve", so it's not "Christmas Eve's Eve" either. Eve.

How far have Personal Computers Really Came?

Hmm let's see. I started life with a Sinclair ZX81, before moving swiftly on to a Toshiba T3100 which had a monochrome orange display, an 8 MHz 286 CPU and 640 kB RAM running DOS on a 20 MB hard disk. Eventually I upgraded to an IBM PS/2 Model 70 with a 16 MHz 386 CPU and a 60 MB hard disk...

Stupid friend of friend driving over the limit, need to vent.

One shouldn't try to make out that being close-to-but-under the limit is somehow a bad thing, or that it is almost as bad as being over the limit. The legal limit is set at a level such being below it is considered safe. Being below this limit, no matter how far below (including barely), is...

Stupid friend of friend driving over the limit, need to vent.

2 pints + 1 unknown drink over 3 - 4 hours will be under the limit, unless the unknown drink was something ridiculously strong/large. Sounds like she was OK to drive and there was no real issue.

is your house over 100 years old?

Mine is at least 161 years old - as it's on a map from 1849. I don't know the actual date though. I wish knew where to look to find out... (No apparent ghosts.)
