If Starbase 24 keeps crashing for you mate turn off Postprocessing in the video options. Its a well known bug with the game. Fixed it for me :)

Yeah it will work. The problem was with the original installers of the DLC on X64 operating systems iirc. These will be pre-installed into the game folder so will work fine. The DLC worked on X64 before but you had to install it on X86 first and copy the installed DLC folder across :)
