    XFX 6800GT Idle at 71C

I found some dust clogging the grill just around the fan, cleaned out and it was enough to drop my load temps from 90C to around 80C. I still have refresh rate problems however, my idle temp it now 61C. I bought a Zalman VF900-CU VGA Cooler from OC which should be here by Tuesday, I'm hoping...

    XFX 6800GT Idle at 71C

Great tip thanks, I'll take it to work and blow it all out with an air gun. I'll have to buy some heat transfer compound I do have some in work but its used for diodes, I don't know if it is different from say some thermal paste from PC world.

    XFX 6800GT Idle at 71C

Not sure if the RAM is playing up, it's only as the GPU begins to heat up though that I begin to really notice intermittent drop in frame rates. I am thinking of reapplying some thermal paste and testing it before ordering the VF900 but this is the first time I have removed my GPU heat sink...

    XFX 6800GT Idle at 71C

Someone has suggested the recent heatwave may have dried up my thermal paste causing the overheating (89C playing BF2). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Also I am looking at a VF900-Cu to replace the stock heat sink, I just don't want to spend money on a broken card. Is...

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

I'm having doubts that my GPU is the problem, I just think the refresh rates are tied in with the unusually high CPU utilization. Its a new build with a replacement motherboard (A8N32-SLi with heat pipe technology) the problem has re-manifested on the new build. I have no idea what might be...

Are these temps normal for 6800gt?

I am having trouble with my PC at the moment, am trying to troubleshoot but I am becoming more and more convinced my 6800GT is the problem. It cold boots as 45C then after 5min BF2 jumps to 77C. In the 5mins I am getting some bad lagging (not happend to me before the weather changed).

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

From a cold boot the GPU core reads 65 degrees C, Ambient temp 45C. After booting up Battlefield 2 the GPU core temp has risen to 77 degrees C and 55C Ambient. I shut down BF2 after 5min and the temp has dropped slightly, I did experience a few GFX glitches in the game. It is now idling at...

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

Not sure I'll have to check though as I reinstalled everything I don't think their is a problem with the software. I would say the problem has similarities to a new windows install before installing the graphics card drivers. I'm not showing any problems in the Device Manager however.

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

2Gig RAM 4 512MB modules. When the system is idol assuming their isn't any background tasks running the CPU drops down to 3%. It seems to use an awfull lot of the CPU for simple tasks. Though when its at 100% it does eventaually finish loading any applications without crashing.

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

My graphics are very unstable when playing BF2, I've never had problems before this, I also noted the ping gradualy increasing to about 800 and then down again to 17. It's also affecting other applications, depending on how many processes are running. I've even noticed the problem in explorer...

    Summer heat damage - bottlenecking

My chipset heat-sink fan stopped spinning on my motherboard (ASUS A8N-SLi) and the system started to bottleneck, I have bought a new motherboard and that wasn't the problem. Anyone have an idea what might be causing the bottleneck, all my components seem to be working but the processor...

    SATA raid problems

Urm not sure, the 1205 adds extra SATA RAID compatibility. I haven't double checked it as I am doing a format recovery at the moment, but when thats done I need to reformat everything and start again. It definitly detected them in windows after rebooting when I flashed the BIOS.

Drivers related hard drive problem (maybe?)

Try updating the BIOS, you'll need to download it from the motherboards website and you should find instructions in the book that came with it. Several methods one is a 3.5" boot disk that's probably your best option.

    SATA raid problems

I have the same setup. My AN8-SLi chip-set fan died so I bought the A8N32-SLi and was faced with the exact same problem when setting the RAID. The only difference being that my RAID was already built and all I needed to do was plug it in and set the BIOS options. Not so fast! as soon as it...
