I have a HP pavilion 15-ec2018na that today after having no issues after a graphics update yesterday has decided that it just doesn't want to use the dedicated graphics chip anymore and is insisting on using the integrated instead.
I've tried everything that i can think of which includes the...
Im looking to build my Son a computer using an old chassis and a few other bits so that he can do some video editing and play games.
The chassis i have is a Silverstone SUGO SG12 micro atx which is pretty solid, it has a 400w PSU which is good but i don't expect it to be up to todays standards...
I went ahead and installed a Samsung 1TB SSD, the cable that was fitted to the dummy drive worked with the new drive and all i had to do was setup the drive as a new volume.
Working perfectly now so thanks for the help everyone :)
It looks like a 2.5 drive as it's quite large and it has a cable attached like I've seen on YouTube videos of HP gaming laptops.
Is there any way on this site to upload a file or do I have to post a link
Excellent, thanks for that.
Would you be able to make any suggestions for a decent line of 2.5 SSD's? It will be for games as well as files so I'm assuming read/write speeds will play there part.
£100 gets something like this...
I was planning on taking the bottom off this evening but I thought I would check what the HP manual says and from what I can tell it says it has an M2 slot?
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07905783
Thanks for that, i never new it had another slot for an additional SSD.
Is there anyway of finding out for sure that it has?
I use it for gaming mostly as well as the usual type of home based things.
I just want to start by saying that I bought a HP 15-ec2018na last year and its a great little laptop if you're looking for a lower priced gaming laptop.
I've increased the RAM and now I'm looking to swap the SSD for a larger one, I'm looking to install at least a 512gb drive an I'm unsure of...
Thanks, i never knew it had to deactivated cores. Is it likely to be stable or is it going to be a pain because of the voltage differences.
If im to be honest i used to be pretty good at all this stuff but this was the last comp i built for myself so im very rusty when it comes to over clocking...
Do you think its worth swapping out the CPU, i don't want to spend a great deal on it but if a cheap CPU, a cheap G card and some extra ram would keep it going for a few more years i don't mind investing that much.
I have a spare computer lying around thats about 10 years old, its not had much use and its made up of the following components.
Silverstone Sugo SG01B-F Evolution Aluminium Micro-ATX Case
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) microATX DDR3 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 555...
That would be the reason then.
Im happy with the performance boost over the 8GB i had and post scriptum has gone from 60-90 fps to 90/130 fps but if i was to buy any in the future what would i look out for to ensure i would get the advertised speeds.
Obviously not XMP unless it can be enabled.
Ive just upgraded the memory on my laptop (HP 15 ec1001na) to 16GB of crucial BL2K8G32C16S4B but cpuz is showing it with a a max bandwith of DDR4 - 2667mhz instead of 3200mhz like the memory that i took out can.
Crucial has this down as being compatible with my laptop so i don't understand why...
Ive had a look at the memory sector and im won't lie i have no idea which memory is suited to this laptop as ive always had desktops before.
Can anyone point me towards a suitable stick of 16GB RAM that will suit this laptop, im not looking to spend a large amount so somewhere around £100 or...
