Thanks everyone. Spent £1600 and topped up the pension. There was never a suggestion of spending much of the money on the pc only a little bit!
I got
7800X3D
Corsair 64gb 6000 cl30 ddr5
Strix X670E-E
Corsair H170i elite XT
2tb Corsair pcie5 pro nvme
Improvements are I can hold 60fps+ at all...
I just got given £30000 (redundancy but already got a better job and I don't have any debts in my life) but I already have a 4090 and a load of fast NVME drives and a corsair 7000 case and ROG 1000w PSU and I'm like hmm I love my computer but what do I do with this weird amount of money that I...
The best thing to do as I just did is let the distributor site know OCUK breaks the process and you want to buy direct. They sent me an invoice and I got both arms for £105 and payment worked first time.
Impossible. I tried via OCUK and the link i was sent wouldn't let me purchase. The arm was about £75 and it wouldn't let me do it. OCUK stopped responding even though I chased twice.
Be honest I returned the windforce and kept the zotac base model because the windforce just wouldn't clock higher under any circumstances. The Zotac overclocks the standard 5%ish and is 10c cooler.
There's a reasonable chance that these sell very poorly and those that buy to scalp end up having to sell them for under £900 in a month or so. I have really never been interested in the 4080 seeing how far off the 4090 it is this time. Like 50% in some titles.
the other 2 at 4k will use 100% but these ones below have CPU issues at about 70-140fps in various areas even in 4k:
Far Cry 6- 60% usage with 1440P DXR ON,ultra
Watch Dogs Legion 1440P - 60% usage with 1440P,RT ULTRA,DLSS QUALITY.
A 13900K at 6.2ghz won't fix it either.
I think you're right most people that got early cards have a Zotac tbh. Those of us that paid under £1800 should be advising people without a 4090 to wait for AMD to release in order to secure one for a similar price. These £2000+ restocks are silly especially when the pound at it's absolute...
The Palits are one heck of an acquired taste to be fair. Zotac has warranty and the only rounded design. Having said this I would not have bought if it weren't for the fact it has a 5 year warranty and that performance of all cards overclocked on air is within 0.1% or so. My card just does...
I agree but the Zotac I got is base level and it's as fast as top 100 hall of fame with only 450W and 3 power plugs. Plus I have a longer warranty than all other vendors. Should be under £1800 though.
It's good that 4090s have been in stock readily in the UK for 24 hours now. The price is dubious but the availability is there at £2150. This bodes well for people with lower budgets getting hold of these sub £1000 within 6 months as no one else wants them. I'm happy with mine for £1800 but want...
Gpu was at 50%. 24 threads and most at low usage but 3 or 4 of them at 75-80% usage.
The latest watchdogs and to a lesser extent farcry 6 exhibit similar bottlenecks though at higher fps.
Not found the issue on dozens of other modern games just really the ones with more cpu usage overall.
Holy bejesus Plague Tale Requiem during a couple of scenes maxed out 4k with DLSS quality honestly went down to 48fps due to CPU bottlenecks with a 4090.
Uncharted was pretty much 120fps the whole game without DLSS though.
To be clear. Changing from 5900X to 13900K @ 6ghz or 7950X3D will not...
