Agreed I trained up a second account in preparation for Factional Warfare never flew anything above frigate class for the first 18 months of combat. Enjoyed it immensely.

Because new players have a choice: 1) train skills that improve their character not fly better ships 2) train ship skills slightly slower then realise that they are at a disadvantage to someone who trained learning skills CCP discovered it was a massive barrier to entry.
