Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Funnily enough, I only recently turned ambient mode off. That damn mode made me think there was something wrong with my oled panel. Bit of digging and found out it was the ambient mode causing it. It looks so much better with it off, not sure if it looks better on other panel types but it looks...

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Yep I think you're right, thanks... I don't think I would have made the connection because I don't see ads on YT but sounds like these new anti-adblocking features are included for their premium users too, which is pretty daft of them.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Hmmm, you could be on to something there as I run pfblockerng on my pfSense firewall. I'm getting exactly the same symptoms as you describe. However, I have a YT Premium account... therefore, surely adblocking shouldn't be causing it? That's pretty terrible if it is...!

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Ok thanks, strange then... it's not doing it consistently, hopefully it just resolves itself. Don't really have any extensions installed so it's not that.

    Controlling rgb lighting

I was going to paste the exported xml here but not sure if it would easily transfer over as some of the tags in the code appears unique to my machine (e.g. windows UserID) I have it configured as following in task scheduler to kill the process 1 minute after logging in. Obviously just set...

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

For the last few days I've been having issues with YouTube in Firefox, videos keep buffering/getting stuck until I refresh the page. Definitely not a bandwidth issue my end as I'm consistently getting 920Mbit+ on speed tests. Anyone else using firefox had similar issues? It could be YouTube's...

    Controlling rgb lighting

Oh but I unfortunately do have to run iCUE along side it for my AIO display. Agree about armoury crate, avoid unless absolutely necessary imo, which unfortunately it kind of is for a lot of their laptops. Really annoys me that Asus put a default setting in the BIOS to automatically install it...

    Controlling rgb lighting

I use OpenRGB, I have setup a scheduled task to close it 1 minute after logging into Windows, it sets the RGB and then maintains it even after closing, which is nice as I don't have to have anything related to RGB running in the background :)

Ghost of Tsushima - directors cut

Quick look around the internet suggests it won't be locked at 60, apparently it is the "average performance" at those resolutions though (according to a mod on the GoT subreddit). Hopefully not anyway, although wouldn't be massively surprising because they did it with Elden Ring...

LG 27GR95QE (worlds first OLED 240hz 2560x1440p) launches 28 December

Ah that's fine then as I only ever let mine go into standy. Just ordered the remote, will give it a go, thanks :)

LG 27GR95QE (worlds first OLED 240hz 2560x1440p) launches 28 December

Ahh right I didn't realise you had to redo the settings each time. Is that only following a full 'hard' power off or does it include when it goes into standby inbetween shutdown and rebooting? I may just leave it in that case, I have no complaints about the brightness as I don't have any natural...

LG 27GR95QE (worlds first OLED 240hz 2560x1440p) launches 28 December

Is it worth getting the service remote and doing the changes then? Was just reading into it and apparently turning at least one of settings off disables the auto pixel refreshing feature, did that happen on yours?

    Tyre Inflator

Good choice, I got the RTC4000 back in November and it's brilliant. USB-C too :D I hated having to plug my old corded one into the 12V socket through the window, then pass it through the opposite window etc. So much easier/faster with a cordless one :)

    Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

Been playing this a bit over the past couple of weeks when I have a short amount of time and just want something mindless to pass the time. It's been running ok but now I'm getting terrible flickering when framerate is set to unlocked in the game (I've had it set the unlocked from the start and...

    The PlayStation Ports thread

That said, Elden Ring is locked at 60 fps even on PC so it doesn't guarantee it... I know there's a hack/mod you can do to uncap it but apparently it can get you banned unless you disable/prevent internet connectivity, so I've not attempted it.

    The PlayStation Ports thread

I kind of agree with your general point, it annoys me too. However, as a massive TLOU fan I was dissapointed with the PC release of Part 1 when it first came out... I wish I hadn't pre-ordered it. I eventually waited a while until they had fixed a lot of the problems and played through it fine...

    The PlayStation Ports thread

I've completed TLOU 1 & 2 on PS multiple times and pre-ordered Part 1 on PC ... I can confirm it ran like crap at first (for me). Not sure what you're arguing about @keef247, just because it ran ok for you doesn't mean it didn't for many. I can pull up some of the subreddits I was posting in at...

Random people let their toddler walk around my drive

I wouldn't let my kid wander on to someone else's property but I wouldn't be concerned at all. You can tell from their body language etc. that nothing sinister is going on, just a curious toddler. Plus he runs to go and get him as soon as he starts touching your stuff...

    Home Assistant beginners

The CCP says hi  Slightly hypocritical of me to point that out as I have a mini pc from there. However, my approach is to block all WAN access for any questionable devices like that (and/or move to my IoT VLAN) and for a smart plug it shouldn’t stop anything from working if you have it...
