Thanks for pulling that list together. It looks good and well within budget. Some questions...
I have a WiFi card (Asus PCE-AC68) that I can transfer across. Assuming the built in WiFi on the mobo is no better is there a better value motherboard if I look at something without WiFi built in...
I'm donating my current PC to my son who is getting in to games like Apex. It's the perfect excuse to get something new for myself :D
I'll be keeping the GPU (3090) and the keyboard and mouse, but everything else is 5+ years old now and needs an update. I'm out of the loop with current tech...
What's the benefit from Ryzen? The price of 1700x compared to 7700k looks almost identical. Reviews seem to suggest the 7700k gives ~10% better performance for games but worse performance on other stuff. The OP states the upgrade is for gaming so wouldn't the 7700k be the stronger option here?
After a few days I thought I'd report back - just in case anyone has similar issues in future.
The reason for wanting to upgrade the BIOS was because my overclocks were frequently being rejected on boot. I could overclock my CPU but had to underclock my RAM, or I could have my RAM at...
Arizona Sunshine and Vanishing Realms are my recommendations. You'll get roughly 5 hours playtime from each. TheBlu isn't really a game but it's great to show off your VR to friends and family.
Try to hold off purchasing games until the Steam xmas sale, it'll save you a few quid.
There doesn't seem to be any mention of memory/RAM training in the bios, other than a voltage setting which is set to auto.
I tried setting fast boot to enabled, turned off CSM (by enabling win8/10 functionality which was previously off). PXE Boot was already off. The long delay prior to post...
I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to sort this out...
I updated the firmware from F1 to F22 (latest version on the Gigabyte site). Following this there is a significant delay getting the machine to boot. After powering on or rebooting it now takes around 85 seconds to reach the splash...
Bumping this thread up as the game is in the steam sale at the moment. For £5 it's a bargain. I've only played a few hours so far but this feels really polished, immersive and well made. I'd recommend this for anyone who enjoys survival type games.
Same here, I've been waiting for survival to come out of beta before starting my second play through.
As with FO3/NV, my second run will be where I pull out my survival guide book, explore every single location and get to a point where there's literally nothing left to do :)
