Corsair HX 620W so not a 650 like I thought, but certainly it's a few years old now.

Going down the 290 route would probably mean a new PSU too I'm guessing?

    Upgrade advice

Yeah, the PSU is probably a little bit tired - I've not really noticed any problems with it but I wonder if a 770 + a bit of OC on my 2500K may be just enough to push it over the edge! :)

    Upgrade advice

OK, thanks for the advice on my CPU. Graphics card wise I was considering: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-117-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1750 Seems it is probably worth it over the 2Gb cards if I want to crank up some of the detail settings. Budget for a...

    Upgrade advice

Hi, My current system is: Asus P8Z68-V GEN3 Intel Z68 i5-2500K 3.30GHz (never clocked it) 16GB RAM Radeon HD 5870 650w Corsair PSU (very old now, according to OcUK I bought it in June 07!) Crucial M4 256GB SSD The way I see things is that the CPU, RAM and motherboard are all...

    good rj45 crimp tool?

I think Paladin do their own in some cases but yes a few of their range seems similar, but that particular one certainly isn't a Hanlong design (the ratchet design seems to be unique to them). Infact I've seen that particular model re badged by a lot of people - Blackbox for example sell them...

    good rj45 crimp tool?

I have a Paladin one, was a bit more than £20 but then I do a crimp a lot of cables some times so it was well worth it for me. http://www.paladin-tools.com/view_tool.php?id=60&parent_id=77 Think they're about £125 from places like RS.

    Cisco 3560-C Series

Cheers BRS. We do a lot of temporary IPTV stuff so its mostly multicast IPv4 traffic but what with HD becoming the norm 100mbit access ports are a bit of an issue (at the moment we use lots of 3560-8's). Just the small form factor and passive cooling make it an ideal device to put into...

linking 2 building using wifi & this hardware list

One side should be in AP mode, i.e. broadcasting an SSID the other in bridge mode connecting to the SSID. (office router)-(ap1 broadcasting ssid) ~~~ (ap2 as bridge connecting to ssid)-(switch)

    Cisco 3560-C Series

Has anybody been able to get hold of one of these yet? I've been screaming at our normal suppliers for a few weeks now trying to get a demo unit or even some indicative pricing but nobody seems to know anything...

    VPS Service

I use Jump and Goscomb. I wouldn't touch UK2 with a ****ty stick. Had no problems with either in the last year or so I've been a customer. Both have a solid network and are generally good in terms of any support I have ever required. Also both Jump and Goscomb can provide native IPv6 ;)

    VoIP Phones

Avaya are nice, could also look for a used Cisco 7940, about £40-50 on the bay and a bit of google fu can get you the SIP firmware for them. Oh, also Snom are worth a look =)

linking 2 building using wifi & this hardware list

Duct and cable would be nice, but probably way OTT in cost for this application. 60M is really not very far at all, we put links in to do way further than that without any real issue. Get direct LOS, work out the Fresnel zone, do it at 5Ghz, use better kit than you're thinking of and you'll...

Juniper SSG 5 learning the CLI

That's exactly how you'd do it. Who is your ISP? Most decent providers should give you a /29 without any issues so you can route between the SSG and the Cisco. If that is an issue then yes I'd probably look to just use the DrayTek and you can also play around with using the SSG to do...

Juniper SSG 5 learning the CLI

Why don't you do it properly and use the 877W as your router with minimal ACL's to protect itself and the SSG as the firewall for your LAN? :) SSG's are great little firewalls, we still have quite a few clients with SSG20's in production at the moment though what with ScreenOS now being...

    1 ADSL line + 2 IP addresses = 2 networks ?

Have a look at a DrayTek 2820, probably one of the better options given your budget (I think the 2820 is about £100+VAT). Give the router the 1st IP and that will use NAT to provide access to your LAN behind it. Then with the DrayTek I'd just fix the server to a static IP on your LAN and...

    1 ADSL line + 2 IP addresses = 2 networks ?

What sort of router do you have at the moment? It's pretty simple to do what you want above using proper kit, even something like a DrayTek it would be fairly easy to achieve too. If you're looking for a new router what sort of budget do you have in mind?

Schizophonic is not impressed [sad face]

Only negotiating a PHY rate of 150Mbit/sec for some reason but that is the sort of performance I can easily get out of 5Ghz kit.

Schizophonic is not impressed [sad face]

Good kit costs money, get used to it. If you want to do this via WiFi then you really want to be looking at doing it at 5Ghz. Well 1, 6 and 11 are the non-overlapping channels, so using Chan2 is a waste of time and TBH will actually just be causing issues for other people. If Chan 11 is...
