    Split Air con

We have a 4a way, 10kw Mitzi system and it’s fab. We opted for two units upstairs (master and 2nd bedroom) (2.5kw each) and a 5kw unit downstairs in our new extension. We considered but ruled out a ducted system, but if I was doing it again, I’d be in two minds to go ducted upstairs to feed...

    Roof boxes

 It’s not bad for an estate. Capacity on this one is 370 litres - we could have gone a bit bigger but there’s only 3 of us (and the waggy one who takes up half the boot ), plus I’ve got room left on the roof for bikes if I need it.

    Roof boxes

I picked one up from Roofbox.co.uk as a bundle with bars. I’ve got “closed” bars on my V90, no issues fitting, everything is self limiting torque systems so you can’t over or under tighten.

    Another air con spec me

There’s a land boundary on the other side of the wall and then road (no pavement) so we should be ok :)

    Another air con spec me

Yeah, it’s totally worth looking at a permanent installation. No idea on power consumption (I’m in denial!) though we were talking about this at work yesterday, but not sure how I’d measure the consumption realistically. It’s hardwired to the consumer unit so no plug for me to measure. The...

    Another air con spec me

@agw_01 sure, we paid a little over the odds (I gather, from my sister in law who works in the trade) £3.5k with another £500-600 for the unit for the new room, when we’re ready. A two way system £2700. Can’t fault the installers though, two guys who worked super clean, pressure tested the...

    Another air con spec me

We had a Mitzi Heavy system installed in June (then it rained for two weeks!) but it’s been great over the last week. We opted for a 3 way unit to cover two bedrooms and a new room that will replace the conservatory later this year. The unit that arrived turned out to be a 4 way with more kw...

Question about mobile masts do they all transmit 4G?

I have pretty much the same setup, but haven’t connected the external antenna yet - I should really get around to it as the speed varies considerably. Ironically, when it’s on 4g the speed is better than 4g+, so I think it depends on what mast it’s picked up. Typically I see anywhere between...

    Wall Mounted Post Box

We’ve got this one: https://www.safe.co.uk/products/brabantia-b110-white-post-box.html No issues with it, we opted for a door with no letterbox because it’s weather facing and I didn’t want a nice new storm force door with a huge hole carved it it :) Big enough for most amazon parcels to drop...

Odd wifi issue I don't understand!

Is it the only signal? You’d only see with a tool that can scan the channels like inssider. If you have multiple APs running the same SSID you’d only see one network. Odds are the AP closest to you is a better signal but it’s back end network isn’t working properly. The sweet spot is just down...

Ford Edge Titanium - anyone got one? What do you think of the ride?

I’ve had the Titantium Auto for just over a year now, still love it. I’m not a big guy - tall at 6-1 but very slim. Not really noticed sliding on the seats in the corners, maybe occasionally but I’ve not found it an issue. Mine is the Lux pack with full leather and also has LED headlamps. It is...

    Instant Hot Water taps

We have a quooker - it was expensive but it's awesome, probably the most frequently used appliance in our kitchen. We have the fusion tap but the standard hot feed comes from the main hot tank that the boiler heats, and a small tank under the sink that does the boiling water. Probably for the...

    Subnet spanning question

Depends on the VPN, the IP range used by the third party network shouldn't matter, but I gusss in this case it overlaps with your corporate range. I've been experimenting with AnyConnect and forced tunnel config and it does it by DNS reachability as opposed to the IP range. Do you have that...

Anova Precision Cooker - cook sous vide with your iPhone.

69c gives whites that are quite snotty, but the yolk is good, they were a bit loose for my tastes, I'll try 72c next, but that was 16 minutes

Spec me a mains-rechargeable jump start kit.

Practical experience using the ring automotive jump pack (the small blue one) starting a 2.0 diesel Kuga when I did the same (on a few occasions) replaced the battery in the end as I was having to jump it daily in cold weather, but it was good for a couple of starts before it needed recharging...

Apple / Meraki MDM and sync issues

Ok, so for 2, then if the iPads are managed by meraki then you publish the app to the meraki "App Store" you can then control which apps are on which iPads through the meraki console. You're probably hitting restrictions pushed down from meraki which will keep re-enforcing over the top. As...

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

It's not the same as a BT line, it comes from telco kit in the headend and there is no DSLAM as there isn't the need. All telco will start moving to VoC (Voice over Cable) soon anyway.

Audio Lag on 4k with xbox

ok, so I've been doing a bit more testing (must to the annoyance of my good lady), but I've narrowed it down - the delay seems to be coming from the xbox itself when it's doing the Dolby 5.1 / output both via optical and HDMI. If I turn it to Stereo (uncompressed) then everything is matched up...

Audio Lag on 4k with xbox

Thanks I'll give game mode a try, but the audio is behind the picture, so adding delay to the audio will only make it worse. I.e. Lips start moving, then you get the voice. It's like watching a dubbed film.

Audio Lag on 4k with xbox

Hi All, I'm not sure of anyone else has run into this (I'm probably missing something obvious!) I replaced an aging Samsung LCD with a Sony Bravia 55x90C yesterday and I've got it connected as follows: Xbox One S > TV (HDMI2) > Optical to Sonos sound bar Now when in Apps like Amazon...
