This is one thing that surprised me the most - Spock's actor nails the role extremely well (ignoring any poor writing for his dialogue regarding ongoing issue with Burnham...). Better than the guy in the Abrams movies I think.

Yeah it seemed like they were paying tribute to that, but came across as more of a parody. Sure if it had been someone like Saru then makes sense given his extensive character development. At least it wasn't as bad as the utterly laughable parody of WoK in Into Darkness with the reversed...
