I have had both, the clearomisers as a whole are identical in length however the base and heads differ in length and are therefore non-interchangeable, the CE5 heads are shorter therefore if screwed (never checked the threads, not sure if they are the same) onto a V3 base, they wouldn't reach...

Aye, I'd say. Default or use recommend settings and tweak to your liking one by one until it goes away. Exactly the same thing happened to my daughter (HD4870) after she updated WOW a few weeks back and that's what I did.
