Monitor goes into standby when gaming - GPU problem?

I do not get that error message. I have to hard reboot the PC to get my screen back. My resolution is 2560 x 1440 and my refresh rate is 60 Hz.

Monitor goes into standby when gaming - GPU problem?

So since I installed a GTX 1080, my screen occasionally goes into standby when I launch a game. There seems to be no pattern to it. I built a new PC in January with a 730 for the graphics card as I was waiting for the the new cards to be released. I've only had this screen standby problem since...

    next gen consoles

I think price is a big factor. £600 for a 1080 plus however much you want to spend on a CPU + MB + HDD + PSU + case, versus approximately £400 for a PS4.5/5. PC gaming is getting expensive. Not to mention that most A-level games will be optimised for consoles and PC gaming looks like bad value...

Gigabyte Z-170X Gaming 7 fan issues

I discovered something interesting whilst consulting the manual... All the fan headers are 4-pin, but they are NOT all PWM. The CPU_FAN header is PWM, but all of the other 4-pin fan headers have different pins. So a PWM fan header has the pins GND/+12V/Sense/Speed Control, the SYS_FAN headers...

Gigabyte Z-170X Gaming 7 fan issues

Okay, I have a brand new Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 motherboard and I'm having some issues with the case fans. The CPU is cooled by a Corsair H110 (the one with the 280mm rad) with the fans swapped out for 2 x Apache Blacks (pwm). The pump is connected to CPU_OPT header, set in BIOS for 'Full...

Why were the reviews for this product removed?

the product in question - Corsair Flash Voyager MINI USB 3.0 64GB (CMFMINI3-64GB) I was browsing the site a few weeks ago and noticed that this flash drive had a single 1-star review, that said that the drive frequently failed to be recognised by the computer and eventually failed completely...

Hard Drive Pricing going up at an alarming rate!!!!

I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Earlier in the year, Overclockers were selling the 512 GB Crucial M4 for £520. Now it's non-sale retail price is £600. Corsair drives have also gone up. I can't help but think that SSD manufacturers have realised that high HDD prices make SSDs more...

Can anyone recommend me a fully modular, multi-rail PSU

    I'm in the market for a PSU for a file server. The file server's specs are as follows: MB - Asus P8H61-M CPU - Intel Pentium G620 (1155) RAM - 4GB DD3 1333 1x PCI-E x4 sata controller (4 ports) 2x PCI-E x1 sata controller (2 ports each) 12x SATA hard drives I've been advised that 12...

    Water Cooling Question

I wouldn't be so sure that a 360mm rad will cool your i7 and your 6990 - the 6990 especially will put out a lot of heat. If it was me, I'd want at least a 240 in addition.

Yep, I think that closed loop water cooling solutions will soon be the de facto choice for high end cooling.

OCZ announces RevoDrive Hybrid - not quite what you're expecting

What's the point of a 240GB raid array that doesn't support TRIM, when for the same price you can get a SATA 6gb/s 3rd generation drive - similar price, similar speed but the second will actually support TRIM. Seems like PCI-E drives have been bypassed.

Dust how do you deal with it?

You should have more fans as intake than as exhaust - that way, the extra air in the case will vent out all the nooks and crannies in your case. Because air is pushing out of those spaces, it makes it harder for dust to come in. If you then put filters on all of your intake fans, you should be...

    Case for watercooling

The CM 690-II's claimed ability to support 2 x 240mm rads (one top, one bottom) is fibbing a bit. From personal experience, I know that to fit a 240mm rad in the bottom your PSU must be no longer than 160mm and the rad must be no longer than 280mm (and even then it's an extremely tight squeeze...

    two pumps, one loop?

A large benefit of pumps in serial is redundancy - if one pump fails, the other will still keep the loop going. On the other hand, I've always thought that if you buy 2 identical pumps at the same time then one would expect them both to fail at the same time.

New Big Boy on the Block!

I'm surprised that they didn't opt for a 200mm fan in the first place. Anyone care to venture a reason why? At the moment it's effectively got 5 hubs that don't pull any air, compared to one for a single 200mm fan. Also, the built-in PCI fan controller implies a lack of PWM control, which is...

    H70 Pump : Running?

I use Apache Blacks. Not only are they good fans, but they're also PWM so they're quiet when they're not needed.
