*** The Official OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 Thread ***

WOW! Upgraded to the previous version of OS X a while ago and was completely underwhelmed - it was buggy, slow and just very cranky. Just upgraded tonight and even on a 2yr old Macbook this iteration flies - not missed a beat and is very responsive... well chuffed with it.

fast linux distro .. for windows noobs

KDE when i used to use it was nicer to look at, but i found it very cranky and too much bloat - no way near as stable or as efficient as Gnome. I found Gnome dull, but it worked and was rock solid.... No idea where we're up to at the moment, but KDE was iffy.... As for a distro, Ubuntu...

    *** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

Good post, though what struck me about it is the lack of proper harsh criticisms, which is good from Apple's point of view. I think the iPhone5 only needs a few touches to make it a bit more update, but i think it's a superb bit of kit - from a design point of view... it's my job to be...

Mac OS X and checking disk permissions

Mac OS X and checking disk permissions

'ello, I've upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X Lion via the app store  it's OK, but it's a bit slow compared to the previous version... i was wondering can you check disk permissions/file structure etc. using the OS install disk i got with my macbook like i used to, to see...

    To Gentoo or Ubuntu? (Laptop)

i wouldn't touch gentoo with a ten foot s***y stick, i bet it goes like the clappers when it's all set up and hunky dorey, but for me, it was like wiping my bum with wet and dry trying to get it to install... and the only real benefit apart from speed is the 133T factor you may be seen to have...

    Spec me a mobile distro...

if you can use redhat, you can use ubuntu... for me redhat made linux hard work at first (i used FC2) and i canned the whole *nix thing for a while because of it [that said, linux was a pig in general back then]... Ubuntu though really was a breeze and made using linux as easy as XP, for...

Is my PC OK for Linux?

most versions of linux will run ok on that... like someone has already said drivers *may* be a problem, but it's unlikely... use a live CD just to make sure before you commit to an install.
