Dead 5k iMac - anyone help?

I replaced the PSU with a brand new one and the issue remained exactly the same. I’ve also re-seated the RAM and disconnected the mechanical hard drive (assuming it’s a Fusion drive so would also have a blade drive - which I haven’t touched yet). So I’m assuming it’s a dead logic board?

Dead 5k iMac - anyone help?

Hi guys, Late 2015 Retina iMac 27 won’t power on at all. Was told there was a power cut and since then it wouldn’t boot up. I’ve removed the display and I’m looking at the bare machine. The first LED indicator on the Logic board lights up when power cable is connected and stays lit. Second LED...

    1986 M535i

I bet with a deep clean, an intensive detail and polish that car would be looking close to brand new. Aside than the small amount of rust which would be a doddle for a body shop to put right (and inexpensive), you’ve really landed on your feet with this one. I’m sure your uncle would be glad to...

    Cheap battery charger

Just picked one of those Maypole chargers up to try and revive a pretty dead Transit van. There are two batteries under the drivers seat, one for electronics and one for cranking, and there are the jump start points under the bonnet. Anyone have any idea which ones I’m better connecting the...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

I’d be looking initially at the lower end of the market. Something needing renovation up here could be had for £45-60k. After taking on a few of these (if successful) I’d definitely be looking at the £100-150k price range as there seems to be more scope for adding value and obviously the...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

I’ve spent around £35k of my own money renovating the house. £20k from savings and the rest on a low interest loan and credit cards (now mostly balance transferred to 0% cards) which was unfortunately necessary after the breakup as I couldn’t live in a half finished house. In any case, and...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

Thanks for adding to my points that were ‘plain obvious’ with some further obvious ones of your own. I’m well aware that the purchase of the property is where you make your money, as well as keeping costs down (in terms of not going for an ultra high end finish in a bargain basement 2 bed...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

This is a good point. Solicitors dragging things out when it comes to the sale is just about the only thing I hadn't really considered. I'm aiming for rapid turnarounds on any project developments to try and avoid as much of the costs you mentioned. Also if I can manage to complete the works...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

My dad spent 25 years project managing new build developments and loves getting involved and helping out. But thanks for your useful comment.

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

I think I need to clarify a few things. Maybe I haven’t explained myself very well in the OP but people seem to be getting the wrong idea. They’re very comfortable, have a big house with lots of free space and are more than happy to let me stay there while I get on my feet with it. Finances...

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

Appreciate the replies - I’ll have a proper read through when I’m properly awake in the morning. Most of the replies seem to assume I’ll be mortgaging whatever I buy as a flip. If I sell my current house I’ll have the cash to purchase and renovate outright without any borrowing required.

Sell house to fund new career in property development - inspired or insane?

Hey guys. So I’m hoping some experienced heads on here might be able to give me a few pointers and let me know if it’s a wise choice to go ahead with what I’m considering. Basically I’ve been working my current job as a self employed driver for around 8 years now and while the money isn’t...

When are you going fully electric?

I go fully electric tomorrow. Picking up a 69 plate Ioniq 38kWh. Pics to follow when I get it home if anyone’s interested.

    The Tesla Thread

Anyone else seen Bjorn’s claim that Tesla has reduced usable battery and therefore range across all Model 3s with one of the recent OTA updates? Interesting stuff.

When are you going fully electric?

When has the Prius ever had a 1.7 litre engine? Regardless, the failure rate for Prius battery packs is incredibly low considering how many of them are on the road. We can only assume battery technology has come on leaps and bounds since the first mass produced Prius was introduced over 15...

When are you going fully electric?

Octopus Energy have an EV rate of 5p per kwh overnight. So that £7,500 could be £2,500 on the appropriate tariff.

When are you going fully electric?

It's looking like it'll be when the first 70 plates are released. I still can't shake the desire for a Model 3 unfortunately!

When are you going fully electric?

Maybe so, but for me personally I'll be saving over £5,000 per year on fuel costs. Pays for the car and then some.

When are you going fully electric?

Unfortunately I need a minimum of 160 miles range as it'll be used for private hire locally. Not too fussed on the issues with rapid charging as it'll be fully charged on my driveway overnight. Otherwise I'd definitely have gone for the first gen Ioniq.

When are you going fully electric?

I was between the ZS and the new 38kwh Ioniq, but it's hard to ignore the £6,000 saving on the purchase price.
